How long does the new car smell last?

I wish it would last forever.

I think it depends on what you do in it.

Some say mine smells new when they get in. They're surprised to learn it's two years old. I don't allow food in it, I don't smoke, and it's almost always in a garage.

I have alot of gas so mine didnt last very long..

But seriously, the good news is that there are apparently fewer VOCs in newer cars; bad news is that the VOCs are what cause the new car smell. I think my 1988 Integra and '91 Camry smelled new for about 4 years after purchase. I stopped noticing the new car smell in the TL after a couple of months; there is just a faint whiff of car leather now after 16 months or so.

Mine is six months old, and still has "the smell".

No smoking, no food, only AC Recirculate (no fresh air via vent). I live in a very humid city, so I don't let outside air enter thru the AC vent.

I have a good smell still... but its not new car smell.. ive had it for 4k miles..
