How does the champagne / gold color look on the 3rd Gen Acura TL

My grandparents love this color for their cars but I'm not sure about it for someone in their 20's. I found a TL 6 MT in this color but I was hoping for white, gray, black etc. Champagne? I haven't seen it in real life. But I've seen my grandparents cars in this color and it's meh, to me.

IMO I think the first five words to the post explains that color best...

I know some will have this color so I don't want to disparage what it looks like. Just not my ideal color at least for the less mature crowd. Their lexus in this color looks ok but they are also older. The price is ok but mostly I'm sure because of the color. Kind of defeats the purpose of getting a bargain then having to throw a few Gs into the paint. My neighbor has a trunk in this color and it looks ok. I figure I should at it in person before I decide.

search for pics for user 'desper'. I think that was his name. His ride was nice.

It's actually not too bad. This particular shade of gold is brighter than the 'champagne' colour on those Camrys and Corollas. If you pair it with a black interior it'll be a nice contrast. Plus, this is a 6MT

Desper... Exactly:

It looks great but you really have to do it right. Desper did it just right.

I have seen a bunch here in canada. There is an older guy around my neighbourhood driving one with a-spec kit on it and I can tell its a 6speed buy the way he drives. If that's not the color you really want I wouldn't settle for it. And you will need a-spec kit to make it more sporty and break that "old people" look you may get from that paint

HA I miss that show so much....

IMO gold cars went out with the 90's, just like gold chains, rims, etc.
I'd wait until I found the color I wanted.

desper's 05 is a stock color
Hand detailed with the best products and well cared for car- I cant believe he sold it for the down payment on a house!

At the azine meets- his car seemed to have an invisable rope around it- no one would get too close- stood a respectful distance and asked `how can I make my car look that clean!`

The champagne and metallic trend was pretty hot in the late 1990s / early 2000. I think it is dead now. Most car makers have returned to basics

Desert Mist Metallic looks hideous on this car.
Minus desper's car. I've seen a few around here.
I used to see one everyday at school cause one of the parents had a gold tl, not my cup of tea.

Heres mine in stock form. Will have an A-Spec kit by the end of the week. At first i was kinda but then i got used to it and i like it more and more. But to be honest, i would choose NBP or something if i had a choice. My car was sort of a "take it or leave it" kinda thing. It sure beats walking or taking the bus

personally... stock, the car screams "old person car", looks good with the aspec kit though, it really sets the car off.

Im gonna be honest though. Given the choice, i would have my TL in any other colour (except Bold Beige Metallic, Deep Green Pearl or Redondo Red Pearl) than Desert Mist Metallic.

He definitely did a nice job! I'm usually not a big fan of that color either but gotta give credit where credit is due...if you choose to go that route there's proof that it can look clean

+1.

I like my DMM, regardless of people going on about how it looks good in black or white or whatever. I had a cabbie once pull up beside me and yell while driving: "Oye! Why'd you pick that colour?" Somewhere between stunned, scared and pissed, I grinned and gunned it... cause you know... a TL can do that! Your taxi can't.

DMM is definitely an acquired taste on the TL;it takes a bit to appreciate it when its stock, but with some tint and a few other modifications, it can look pretty sweet.

Finish up the kit + get a nice drop + lose the front plate + finish it off with a nice paint detail = CHAMPagne.
