I live about an hour and 15 minutes from the nearest Acura dealer and was curious if my local Honda dealer is able to cover warranty work on a TL? I am considering purchasing an '04 TL soon, but would hate to have to take it that far for any needed work. Anyone know if Honda dealers are allowed to maintain Acuras under the warranty plan?

someone here is in the same situation. i believe that he said he was able to have the honda dealership do the work for him. best bet would be to call them and tell them your dillema and see what they say

I have come across a couple that would do it, but it's rare. They would still have to contact an Acura dealership and arrange parts delivery if necessary.

I gave up on the quality of service with Honda dealerships. So I use to take my 99 Si to Acura dealerships to get serviced. I found that Acura service was also cheaper most times (primarily on schedule maintenance).

If you have a TL, what's an hour and half drive?

I'm in the same boat as you. I was told that Honda dealerships can do routine maintenence and repairs that *you* pay for but any warranty claims must be handled by an Acura dealer. It has to do with big corporation finances and bookkeeping--financially speaking Acura and Honda are two separate companies (even though one is a division of the other) and the Acura Division has to pay for their own warranty repairs (not paid by Honda). I've been told this by four separate dealers.

I get the maintainence done at my local Honda dealer with no problems. They are glad to have my business.

My Honda dealer is happy to do the scheduled maint. but is not too keen on any warranty work.
