Honda/Acura wants to buy back my TLS (leased)
Hi all,
i was wondering if anyone had any experience with this.
i recently received a letter from Honda/Acura stating that they wanted to buyout my lease for my TLS 07 (automatic) in Black.
i currently have 18K miles but no damage otherwise.
my lease is up on january 2010 (leased it 07 of january).
my question is, is this a marketing ploy to get me into a new car? or do they really want my car back (they mentioned that the TLS 07 was selling well, and that they were running out of cars. and since i've been getting the car serviced at acura, they know its been in good condition)
if this isnt a marketing ploy and they really do want my car back, what are my options into getting the best deal for me?
thanks all for your help.

I received an ad from the Acura dealer here in Arlington, Texas stating they would pay 110% of NADA RETAIL value of 2003 - 2006 model Acura's with less than 100,000 miles. This was good towards a purchase of a new 2008 or 2009 model Acura.
I inquired about the deal because I had a 2007 TL-S on lease, but I was putting 30k miles a year on it, and would be tanked in overage mile fees when I returned it in 19 months.
The internet manager I talked to said that this deal was only good for 03 - 06 models, but they would still give me $30k for my car. I ended up calling my brother, who used to be the internet manager at that dealership, and he put me in contact with the fleet manager.
I ended up trading in my car, which had 33k miles on it, a cracked windshield, a few door dings, 2 new fenders because I had been in 2 accidents, and they gave me $35, 200 for the trade. I purchased a 2008 TL with Navi for $37k (I know its almost sticker) but got it at 60 months at 2.9%. It lowered my monthly payments and got me in to a brand new car.
Basically, this helped me get out of some negative equity AND prevented me from owing $8,000 in overage mile fees when my lease was up.
Now this deal worked for my situation, but may not work for everyone. I still can't believe they did this deal and am dreading that they'll call me and try to take my new car from me when they realize what they did.

As other people have already mentioned, they just want to sell you a new car. They know that if you let them "buy" your car back, you'll need to find a new car somewhere else, and since you're in their dealership...
Check out Edmund's "Confession of a Car Salesman" article, pretty interesting read.

Yes, they're trying to sell you 08 TL/TLS. Depends on your situation if you want to take advantage of this. I also received the same letter from my dealer where I bought mine new last year. 110% over nada book, but no thanks. I'm happy with mine.

I bet they offered acura in house financing too! where they make money on every part of the sale
At least buying is better than leasing- you still have the car to sell or keep in a few years, and mod it as you like, drive it as much as you want and enjoy it!
TLs mileage doesnt really effect its value- they are good cars that at 100k miles get the first big service it needs, and then runs another 100,000 miles trouble free
What I read of the newer cars- they seem to be assembled in a rapid manner with the cheapest parts found-rattles and thunks galore
