Question Homelink

I have a rolling code garage door opener made by Genie. I programmed my Acura TL to operate the door by synchronizing it with the opener but then I noticed that the garage door opener remotes are no longer synched. Anybody know how to get both garage door opener remotes and the TL synched to the garage door?

maybe you can try to go to www.homelink.com and find an answer. I don't know why setting your car would have changed anything in your remotes. I have a Chamberlain and had no problem.

Most openers can only remember 4 remotes....my wife and I have homelink in both of our cars and had 3 old fashioned remotes...after adding the cars one remote no longer works. you might read the manual for your opener.

I went on the homelink website and sent them email about a week before starting this thread because they never responded. I will try the Genie site.

Follow the instructions to reprogram the garage door openers remotes. It sounds like you hit the key combination on the garage door opener to clear all of the remotes prior to setting your homelink. Read the instructions in the owners manual as well as the instructions with your genie rolling code garage door opener. Then read them again, and probably one more time just to be sure... THEN try programming again.

When I had a different issue, the e-mail route did not work for me either. I called them directly and had VERY good technical support to resolve my issue. Try it!

Worked for me!

Neumahn,

Here are a couple of snips from an email I received from Homelink Support. This procedure worked like a champ for me. I have a Liftmaster opener. You must follow the steps exactly as they are lined out.

Rolling Code Programming:

1. Press and hold the two outer HomeLink buttons until the indicator light begins to flash (after 20 seconds). Do not hold for longer than 30 seconds. Do not repeat this step to program additional HomeLink buttons.

2. Place the hand-held transmitter 1-3 inches from the HomeLink button you want to program.

3. Simultaneously, press and hold both your HomeLink button and your hand-held transmitter. Do not release either button until step 4 has been completed. (If you reside in Canada, refer to the "NOTE" below.)

4. When the indicator light changes from a slow blink to a rapid flash, release both HomeLink & hand held transmitter buttons.

5. Then go to your garage door opener motorhead unit in the garage. Locate the "Program" or "Learn" button. Usually near the hanging antenna wire on your garage door opener motorhead unit. (The name of these buttons vary by manufacturer, please see your garage door openers owners manual for the location of this programming button).

6. Press and release the "Program" or "Learn" button once, like a door bell (1 second)(Do not hold this button down. Holding this button down for too long will erase all the Remotes, Keypad and other vehicles equipped with HomeLink). There is 30 seconds in which to initiate step 7.

7. Then go to your vehicle and firmly press and hold your already programmed HomeLink button for two seconds and release. Do this procedure again and depending on the Brand of your garage door opener you may need to do this procedure a third time to complete the procedure.

The garage should now activate when the programmed HomeLink button is firmly pressed and released. If not, give us a call or refer to the "Troubleshooting Tips" noted below.

NOTE: If you reside in Canada, replace step three with the following:

Press and hold the desired HomeLink button and "cycle" the hand-held transmitter. To cycle: Press and release the hand-held transmitter button every two seconds until the indicator light changes from a slow blink to a rapid flash(step four).

Verifying HomeLink has picked up a rolling code signal:

** Press and hold the programmed HomeLink button. If the indicator light blinks rapidly for two seconds and turns solid, HomeLink has successfully picked up the rolling code signal. If necessary, proceed with steps 5-7 noted above to complete the rolling code programming.

Hope this helps!
