I guess the best thing to do it slap it into the next gear right @ the 6500 mark
because during the slight pause it taked to respond you'll be right at 6750 right?

Since the RPMS climb slower in each gear this number will increase slightly for
perfect shifts on each gear. Im just wondering if this will get me better 1/4 times
or just letting the autotrans do all the work and slap it into D.

yes to that too.
redline is 6,800 but rev limiter is ~7,000 or 7,100.
don't know which is quicker in the quarter - i do know which is more likely to be a little late and hit the limiter.

glanced at it. I know in neutral the limiter kicks in at around 5 , right.

Actually around 4k in nuetral unless I'm confusing the Ford with the TL (they both do it), try it, you won't hurt anything... Keep it in park and put the pedel to the floor, yang, yang, yang, yang, yang, yang, yang.
FWIW - depending on situation, auto gears pull pretty long and shifts are fairly quick... I don't get a lot of confidence the tiptronic mode is any faster than D.

The G pulls ahead of the TL with every shift cause he's burning another 600 RPM and the TL can't make it up.

There are many dyno shops now with units that let you run 1/4 mile test with shifting points all mapped out with the other results
Thats the way to find out if its you or the car
Tiptronic sends a signal when you say, or computer taking massive things into consideration makes the shifts hmmmm

Needs wheels
I think I remember reading that the autos shift earlier with the VSA on...maybe if you disable the VSA you could push it to the fuel cut-off at 7100 RPM instead of 65ooRPM

In Full Auto mode, the car will shift at or before the 6,800 rpm redline. Do a WOT run in full auto, I bet it shifts AFTER 6,200 in 1st and 2nd (maybe 3rd too).
As I posted earlier, the "cut off" aka rev limiter is at 7,000.

FWIW - all 3 entries in this comparison, I wouldn't by a single one for straight line or corner to corner racing. What I'm getting at, if the hair splitting among the 3 cars means that much, you're in the wrong car segment, period.

is cheaper. Bastards!..lol

The G is one MY change ahead of the TL.
So the 4G TL will surpass the G35, then a few years later, the G will re-pass the TL.

During test drives the G35 was a little faster, but the TL-S had smoother throttle and braking.
You should be able to get a better deal on a TL this month (comparing 07 to 07 models with similar equipment) as long as you can live without that analog clock.
I'm picking up my 07 TL-S tomorrow. I'll have to stay away from the rev limiter for a few weeks until the break-in is done.

^^Yeah, but look how ugly it is! lol The interior is garbage as well (IMO) So...there are trade-offs. I used to work at Infiniti and I test drove the new G37 Coupe, besides its massive pull, nothing else really impressed me. I could take wayyyy faster turns in my TL, but then again, I have Tein SS w/ Comptech RSB.

i really hate to be a noob, but what's WOT ? and can anyone tell me why it is that when i floor it, the car seems to slightly screech and sorta jump, instead of burning out/ peeling out? I take every precaution to make sure no cars are around and that i cant injure anyone just so everybody knows. Ive got the TL-S auto and it didn't do this until i recently got new flowmaster mufflers, could this at all be the cause?? sorry if this is the wrong place to ask.

WOT = Wide Open Throttle = Flooring It.
Is the difference VSA on versus VSA off? Sounds like VSA is kicking in ("slightly screech and sorta jump").

I think i know the reason, i also took out my front anchor - 7 pound weight i believe. I noticed when I have someone in the car, it burns out without any problems..at least until i wreck my trans., but when I'm by myself, it has the problem. Could those few pounds really matter?
