Hit (bumped into) TWICE in two weeks!!!

:silvermad

Two weeks ago...I came out to my car in my parking garage at work and noticed a dent & small scratch on the back bumper of my otherwise perfect 16 month-old car. No big deal, I told myself...it's not that noticeable - maybe it was a mistake that the other person didn't even notice...

Two days ago...I go to my car in the morning, where it is parked between my wife's Jeep GC and a wall (i.e., I know I didn't do the damage). The night before, I had parked my car way away from a Dave & Buster's wherein we went to a party. We came out and noticed that a tiny Nissan POS truck was parked waaaay too close to my car, and only thought to look for door dings... Evidently I should have continued to the rear of my car.

I've been to three body shops here in Houston as was quoted $1,050, 985, and 850 to fix it. If dumbass hadn't of hit the metal, I understand, I could have just bought a cool body kit and my car would've looked better than before w/o spending more money.

What do you ladies and gentlemen think? I was going to do a custom box w/a 10, 20" konig unknowns, and nav->video in the next year. Now this crap sets my projects back.

it depends on what is more important to you. Mods or asthetics? I have to fix my front bumper from some debris in the road on my drive home from michigan shortly after christmas, so as soon as it's warm and the salt is cleared from the roads, im gonna have it painted and have the clear bra put on.

Does this look like an $850 job? The dealership had that low number, for Pete's sake. The other two places were 'luxury' places that touted Acura specialty skills.

I'd rather put the $850 into retirement, frankly, than to fix something like that. I suppose I'm still torn.

I put wax on it the last time I washed it, but that was just about a day after washing. Thanks though...maybe if I keep it washed & waxed like that, no one will notice the disasterously ugly rashes on that driver's side rear.

damn that sucks, im sorry. reading your post, i think you should spend the money to fix your car back to tip top condition before you start off on your mods. i imagine that if you start up and get your custom box, rims and navi to dvd conversion done, you'll still not be satisified because those dings and sratches will still bother you like no other. others might not notice, but you WILL. a major set back but yea.. good luck

Yeah...I think that may end up being my solution. I've limited my budget for mods, though. We're paying 15,000/yr for my wife's grad school and I have to pay for the CPA exam, amongst other things. Maybe I can do you guys' taxes on the side! Whaddaya think? 1065s, 1120Ss, 1120s, & 1040s for mods/body work?
