HID/LED Daytime running lights

i saw an 07/08 TL on the road the other day facing me, didn't realize it at first but there was a subtle mod that i realized later was HID or LED daytime running lights. they look pretty cool and much whiter.

i don't know if it actually has a practical function, but what kind of mod is this, is the entire headlight assembly changed. anyone have any examples. is it HID or LED? i did a quick search and sound 'halo lights' but read some pretty bad reviews about its compatibility

any thoughts?

nobody knows what you're talking about.

are you referring to DRL's? Halo/Angel Eyes? HID lights?

yeah something like that. the ones i saw were hollow circles, looked like a BMW. are they LED? seems like it makes sense, cause an HID (if it's HID) would be solid, not hollow, like vietxquangstah's photos.

they were white/bluish like your pic, not yellowish like the stock...halogen?

maybe something like this...it's jdm?

Any notable differences between the USR kit and the iJDMToy kit?

Ijdmtoy sells the harness separately if you want to use your own LED bulbs. I use ijdmtoy harness with the 10XB 825 lumen LED bulbs from VLEDs.

What I meant to say was that iJDMtoy also offers their DRL harness separately if you wanted to buy other better LED bulbs to use.

If you want everything all at once they also do offer the DRL harness + 68 smd LED bulbs..

I myself chose to use the ijdmtoy harness by itself (I also had a 15% off discount code at the time) and bought super bright 5k white 9005 DRL bulbs from vleds (had 35% discount code for that)

I paid less than $60 and got some damn bright good looking LED DRLs now. I've seen a 68smd LED DRL bulb in a 2G TSX and I don't like how you can clearly see each small individual LED in the reflector. It looks very weird and not uniform. Multiple bright dots scattered.

^ There are three levels of pricing for the 9005 bulbs. Did you get the most costly of the three? I decided to get the iJDM harness and get the vLed bulb as you suggested above. I dig bright white DRLs.

Sorry for the late reply but I noticed in the other VLEDs sale thread you said you already made a purchase.

I bought the 10XB 850 lumen LED ones.. They are $59.99. I had a 35% off coupon when I bought them earlier this year. Check out this thread

https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-2004-2008-93/vleds-6-led-725-lumen-drl-9005-bulb-884617/

Those are the 6XB 725 lumen ones. I exchanged those after trying them out for a week to get the 10XB 850 Lumen versions.

In reguards to HID daytime running lights

So i attempted to install HIDs for my 07 Acura TL 9005 8000k bulbs. While doing so the instrument panel DRL went on and the HID lights didn't? This kit has a ballest that comes with it. Is their something i missed doing While installing them? Or possibly the wrong kit? Or do i need restricters to go with this as well? Any input, ideas, or comments will help. Thanks

I explained it in my thread about installing LED DRL's on my TL. If you simply plugged in ballasts into the existing DRL bulbs sockets, same stuff applies. Otherwise skip the rest of this post.

https://acurazine.com/forums/third-g...nstall-960677/

In summary, in stock setup, DRLs are run in series to cut voltage in half, thus cutting power, so bulbs are dimmer than normal.
So now ballasts (or LED bulbs) are also run in series, which is not good for them (let's assume they get 6V each, while designed to work at 12V). So they might work intermittent, barely lit up, or most likely don't work at all.

Now I would discourage you from running HIDs as DRLs. Why? Too bright - they will blind all oncoming traffic. Also HIDs will be much hotter than stock bulb at half power - they might melt the headlight as headlight was not designed for bulb with that much power in this location.
I'm running LED bulbs, that provide about same amount of light as stock bulbs, but they are white - not yellow - if that's what you are looking for.

So now how to fix your problem? Either do it my way (make modifications to your wiring) (cheap but harder to reverse to stock) or buy one of LED wiring harnesses with resistors and relay. If you go my way with HID keep in mind that DRL harness was not designed to run two 35W ballasts. Stuff might fail.

LEDs

I to own a 07ACURA TL and am having a difficult time getting to install my LEDs Daytime Running Lights. Seems you have to get additional source of power to connect with the battery for each light or one for both.

Regarding LEDs

So even with this kit I still may have to undergo the way with having to add additional source of power from the battery.

You need a relay harness, yes.

2005 TL Canadian
I should have done this conversion years ago since now I can't seem to find any of those relay / harness kits on VLEDS or ijdmtoy. I've emailed them to see if they have newer version and awaiting a reply. I'm skeptical of unproven eBay versions like this. Any recommendations?

I purchased a drl harness kit and some led lights from idmtoy in 2017 and finally got around to installing them in the spring of this year. Everything worked fine up until recently and then both led lights went out at the same time and I can't get them to come back on. I have no drl warning light showing on my dash and the fuse in the drl harness kit itself is not blown. Any ideas on troubleshooting to determine whether the led lights or the drl harness is the culprit? Are the ijdmtoy drl harness kits known to randomly fail?

This harness has a relay, right? Check that. Otherwise plug in standard light bulb and see if it lights up, check all connections, etc.

Yes, the harness has a relay in it. Cool, I'll try to plug the standard light bulb into the orginial socket. All of the connections still look to be intact
