HID Foglights
I am planning on changing my TL-S foglights to HIDs. I have a friend who works for http://www.neverburnout.com, So I am going to give their HIDs a shot. Can someone tell me which one I would need? I did do a search but did not find which bulb to use.

Since they are fog lights they may already be pointed low so it "may" not be an issue.

MC82, can you keep this updated. I have a '07 TL and I want to put HIDs in my foglight too. I believe the mounts are H8 which are different from the '04-'06 foglights. Also last week I checked I THINK the fog light goes off if you turn on the highbeam (will check again later). If that's so, you might want to figure out how to make it such that the foglight stays on even when you highbeam.

no LEDs and I have a guy in NYC who gives me HIDs for cheap.....nothing special becuz all the ballasts are the same junk even if its german or chinese or whatever.... the thing that really makes a diff in quality is the bulb.... I used 9006 4300k in the stock fogs in the headlights i left them alone.... and the mod in the bottom fogs i did the same thing 4300k the ballasts on the top fogs i had left over from many sets i did and those are german the bottoms are chinese...havent had any probs but the battery really does drain out I think its time for an upgrade and an isolator
PS I didnt tie any connections to the electrical system on the car I ran separate switches and relays for everything

I would love to make all three sets HIDS.. I hate the yellowish look of the daytime lights as well as the fogs. Could you provide complete details on how to proceed with this mod and also the costs involved. I'm in Jersery, might you also put me in touch with your contact in NYC?
Any Insight on how to proceed with this project would be most helpful.
Thanks

Actually the regular battery is really powerful and can handle the load but I upgraded..... Im not taking chances with the electrical system. Especially with a system in the car. I have the yellowtop optima. I have relays for each set other than the stock lights I have switches for main power to the relays and switched power on n off. so I can shut all down at once "amps, lights, strobes" or shut them down individually. The guy I deal with for HIDs doesnt really do business outside of his "circle" but I dont mind hookin anyone up if you're serious and you'd want to pick em up or have them delivered. They are fairly cheap I get them at 250 with a year warranty no questions asked. I can even do installs for everything because I have a shop my friend owns and we do night work there so its convenient. As for the fuse TypeS Racer your right you absolutely have to upgrade the fuses to 15, 20 is a little too much ballasts dont use more than 15 amps on draw even at time of ignition.

Hey MC82, did you get the HID fog light bulbs yet? I would love to go with HIDs for the fogs, but I'm not sure which brand to go with yet. Let me know if you have them installed yet and what your thoughts are.

Cool... just ordered!
I'm getting the 3000K Yellow HID for the fogs...
Looks AMAZING on a blue car, similar to the IS300's
Found a seller on Ebay that has GREAT feedback, and sells kits for $120 shipped!!!

Hi guys, well I have a few questions and can't find the answer (unless its hidden somewhere).
Were you guys able to connect the ballast to the original lines?
The manual says the bulb is 12V-35W but doesn't ballast usually need an inital boost of 13V? Or is that not an issue.
Where did you guys hide the ballast?
What brand kit did you guys buy?
The stock HIDs are 4300k if I recall correctly. Does 4300k fog kit have a different color and intensity since the light is dispersed in the fog. Would a 5000k make the lights have similar look.
Thanks.

porkipine........yes they have a slightly diff tint because they are being put out from a reflector lense not a projector so you dont get that crazy blue reflection. you can use the original wires if youd like you just need to make sure the fuses are upgraded to 15amp if they are 10amp or lower to begin with. I dont suggest using acuras harness for installation of an HID set simply because if anything were to happen that'd be the end of warranty on the electrical harness.... if you throw a relay and switch in there itll save u a headache at the dealer. now when the bumpers off the car for the install to begin find a spot where the ballasts can be placed securely without shaking ( thats what usually makes em burn out) 5000K really doesnt exist as a color output....people say beemers have that...its a crock...they have 4300 osram bulbs the thing that makes the pretty light u see is the lense. And as for the brand get what u think is good as long as your not paying more than 300 for it....unless u go to hella or phillips where ur bound to spend more.

So my main concern is putting in the relay and switch. By using the relay, do I need to purchase some 12 gauge wires and connect everything to the battery? What is the purpose of a switch? Will it allow me to turn on the fog lights independently? Thanks.

HID Relay Harness With Inline Fuse Relieves stress on your stock wiring system, or disable your DRL's. By drawing power direct from the battery using all 12 AWG wiring HIDs will turn on when triggered by your headlight switch. Built with a duel output 30Amp Relay it powers both HID ballasts, complete with all needed connectors for easy install, the Relay harness will also provide a level of protection for over voltages to you HID system with its inline fuse.
I have found these two switches. The second one seems better IMO since it can be used for both ballast. This are the 4 wires that comes out from the relay. Is relay and switch the same thing? somehow it sounds like it.
Black - Ground
White - Switched Source (usually plugs directing into your stock headlight harness)
Yellow/Blue - Plugs into the positive on your HID ballast
Red - 12V+ terminal on your battery
Does that mean the White wire is the one allowing me to turn on and off the fog light right?

How are you connecting the HIDs. Do you have an extra relay to the battery or did you connect to the stock harness. What do you connect the second one into?

has anyone here found a set of yellow HID fogs...I have 3000k set, but when you look at them directly, they are white. The yellow only shows on the road.
halogen 2500k bulbs show yellow in the front and they shine the road yellow...

Like I said you wanna avoid probs?....add switches n relays the stock harness is only made to support a certain amount of draw and it will not power up a second ballast....they started that BS in the 05 junkers n up.and if your doing the install yourself... be clean and take your time with it. As for the 3000K setup I like it to an extent.....I personally dont think it meshes well with the TL but to all their own.
