Hey Canadiands or others in the cold - Heated Seats

OK its been 1 year and 1 month since i got my 05, and ive noticed that my heated seats, on high, take 25 minutes to hit full blast output of heat to my ass, and its the same with the passanger seat

My friends jag, as soon as the car is on, and its still cold in -25c the seats will get hot in less than 5 minutes of the car being on even if the car itself is not warm..

The same thing goes for my friends RSX, it doesnt take 25 minutes for it to get hot, takes ~5min..

is this the same for all tl's or is it just mine?

Please let me know so i can get my car taken care of before warranty is up

thanks

nope, mine gets hot in less than 5 minutes... and I mean HOT, not warm. This maybe a stupid question but when you tested the seats in different cars were you wearing the same clothes? (different materials and thicknesses takes longer to transfer heat)

no mine heat up in less then 5min. And they are hot. SO hot that I am scared that my balls may be cooking on them so I have to turn it off haha I never really drive with them on, only untill they warm up and then I turn them off. I am used to my ass being cold since the heat warmers didn't work on my 99 and the leather gets so cold at -40. Get it checked out. Where in canada are you

My heated seat gets too hot and it feels like I pissed myself when using it. I don't understand how anyone would like that. My wife on the other hand loves the damn thing and leaves it on all the time. To answer your question, it heats up in about 5 min.

Mine are slow 2 takes at least 10 min to warm up and even longer to get hot. All the cars I've been in are faster except for the Camry, I wish mine was as fast and had as many settings as the girlfriends GTI

my seat takes about 5-10 minutes to be very nice and warm, no matter the conditions outside. It appears that the design honda/acura use take longer to heat than other manuf.'s. My buddy's Monte Carlo can scotch you butt in a minute...

But yeah, my girlfriend loves it as well... could it be because the passenger seat dosen't have back heating as well?

Mine are real, real slow. They don't seem to heat up much at all, and take forever. I keep thinking there's something wrong, however the light does come on and I guess they are just slow.
My old Avalon was much better.

Mine heat up real quick, like within 5 minutes if I set it to high. Even on low it starts feeling warm after 10 minutes or so.

5 to 10 minutes for mine. We used them this morning. I like to heat it up and then turn if off. I need ball warmers, not ball cookers. If you leave it on high it cuts off and back on to keep it hot, on low it stays on all the time and may feel hotter.

5 minutes max. I usually let it heat up on High, then switch to Low. And for me it's not so much heating me up, it's the relief it gives to the back. Feels soooo damn good.

Seat heater is electrical, how can it use gas? Or effect mileage?

When it gets really cold here, the leather seats take too long to heat up. Sitting on a block of ice even for 5 minutes is not nice so I've installed a seat cushion that is much warmer that the cold leather seats. Now I never even turn the seat heater on.

Guys even 5 minutes is way too long, there is no reason we should have to be uncomfortable for that long. It's just a really bad design. One minute should be enough to heat up the seat, other cars can do it. Let's raise a class action lawsuit against Acura over this issue!

Thought I read somewhere that the passenger seat has less heating area than the driver's seat due to some sensors taking up the space (perhaps for the air bags, I can't remember).

Dunno about that statement... the First Law of Thermodynamics applies here. I would think that the electricity to heat the seats is coming from your alternator which is in turn coming from the engine. I don't know how many watts you're drawing with the seat heater(s), but I'll bet the increased load can be measured. That said, I don't know how that translates into a decrease in MPG.

Yea Edmonotn meet would be sweet but there only hata_61 has mods as far as I know. I am hoping this changes for me this summer with pentas and some lowering springs And a meet with a bunch of stock cars is kind of meh haha But I would really like to see the hata_61's car. There are 2 other members here on azine from edmonton, one has WDP 06 auto, and another NBP 06 or 05 auto as well
