Help Trade In Question
I purchased a new 05 TL no navi in mid November. I traded in the wife's 02 Altima. We owed 4800.00 and the dealer gave us 5000.00. We received a Release of Liability from the dealership dated 11/12/05. Today I go out to check the mail and I get a bill from Nissan. Noy just a bill but an over due notice. Looks like the dealer forgot to pay off the Altima. Bastards. We will be calling Nissan credit and the dealer tomorrow.

Sadly this happens all the time Since it does not show up as a dealer's "obligation" on their credit report, they pay these items last. Get in touch with your nissan credit department and send them all of your documentation. Urge, beg, and plead for them not to report this to the credit reporting agencies as your delinquency. I hate to say this, but I've heard of more than a few friends that have lived through this problem.

You would also want to get a hold of the BBB in your area and report the dealership, that they didn't pay off your debt. I personally think they short-changed you on how much they were to give you for your car. Did you check a worst-case scenario with Kbb.com? When you have a trade in, always check the value against the latest kelly blue book value.

Thanks for the advice. Dealership opens at 9:00 a.m. I will be as pleasant as possible but they better handle it. We had a great rapport w/ the salesman, maybe I will send him an e-mail stating how unsatisfied I am w/ the care the Acura dealership has provided after the sale. I will contact the better BBB too.
About the trade in, 5K sounds low but the Altima had 95K miles and needed some minor body work. We needed to get rid of it and we got an awesome TL!!!!
