Help on pricing - loaded up TL-S ***

local dealer has what sounds like a nice looking TL-S

White Diamon Pearl
Automatic
Blk/silver interior
Aspec body kit installed
Carbon fiber trim (steering wheel / consoles / rear console / etc.)

the car is marked up about 2500 over MSRP to account for these parts.
I know the body kit would cost me about $1000 to get shipped and then I'd have to install it. i think most of the carbon fiber stuff is relatively cheap / easy to add EXCEPT the steering wheel which I believe is a 4-500 item.

you guys think that 2500 premium is a rip for those items or a decent deal?

the best "deal" I've found is $33,300 for a TL-S that has no extras.

i know if I'm there with a check in my hand, most dealers will probably match or come darn close to this figure. i'm wondering how much EXTRA I should realistically pay to get this stuff. I'd liek to have it - but i'm not gonna get ripped off to get it.

i can always get a body kit on my own, and install it myself to save money

I'd take the $33,300 and add $1000 to it for the Aspec and that is what I'd offer. The 09's are a month away, they need to move these cars. $2500 over MSRP is insane.

i don't honestly know "WHAT" the aspec body kit COSTS the dealer to put on. it costs them something. so they won't give it away for free. same with te carbon fiber stuff. the little pieces are not that much, but i think the steering wheel is probaby several hundred... again, they aren't goin to comp it and just gie it away but they will easily just sell it at cost.

if the best deal i can get is 33,300, then with this stuff, i'm thinking maybe 1500 more? $2000 at most.

they also wanted $695 for a pro pack - which is crap stuff like mudgaurds, or wheel locks, floor mats, crap that should be free. i'm not paying for that period.

so one vote for $34,300 and that's it.

anyone else care to give me iddeas?

34k OUT THE DOOR? no dealer is goign to sell it out the door for that much.

Tax alone would be a few thousand...that means they would have to sell the car for 30k flat or so... no way.

the best deal i've seen ANYONE claim they got was 31,800 and i wonder if that was a cash price..not using their financing.

i think 34k + TTL is in the ballpark maybe 35k...

I could order the aspec kit right now for $600, carbon fiber crap would be another $500 (including steering wheel), then sell the stock steering wheel and only spend like $700.

i went on ebay.

found the steering wheel for $380. found body kit for $800. the other two carbon fiber pieces are relatively cheap.

how hard is it to install the body kit yourself? can one to two guys do it themselves with hand tools or is it an all day job?

i was at the dealer yesterday and they were happy to sell me the standard type S for $33,300. the one with the body kit and carbon fiber stuff on they wanted too much. i hinted i might go as high as 35k and they said no.

800 for the body kit + 500 for the carbon fiber stuff + 33,300 = 34600. that's fair. 35k gives them a minor profit..

oh dont' forget $695 for the "pro pack'... i laughed and todl them i wans't paying for that that it was hype and they all do that - other dealers throw it in for free...

they should sell that 25k or less. at MOST.

Then that same TL will be there a year from now with a price of 23k. That makes no sense.

unless prices firmed up in the last couple months I got my tl-s for 31,8xx with ttl it was 35,000 otd from alhambra acura in so. cal. This was on May 16. I had 2 other dealers that were very similar one was better by 100 as they were given away a 100 gas card with any purchase but it was 50 miles further and the Alhambra dealer included all weather mats, mud flaps, and wheel locks. Good luck on your purchase. I would say 36 to 36.5 otd with the extras you have listed if you really want them.

i offered them 35k + TTL.

that is basically the car at 33,300 plus my costs/labor for buying/installing the parts.

i think it's more than fair. i could ball bust them a few bucks down but i think it's not unreasonable.

I haven't been able to get any dealer to give me anything under 33k. i even told them i'd come now and buy it NOW. some said they wouldnt even match the 33.3 offer...

a guy at santa monica acura basically said we will sell them eventuall for what we want... like they had Tls with gold steering wheels or something.. whatever.

they offered me the car at 35.5
i said 35k
that's where it's at now..

email the internet sales managers at 15 southern california dealerships and tell them you would like the internet sales price on a tl-s (don't cloud the deal with the extras). I think you will be surprised by a couple of the offers. Then take the best 3 and work your deal on the phone only. Once you get the deal you want make sure the sales manager knows you are not interesting in any extra add ons or you walk when you come. NO pro pack, no underbody spray, no window engraving, no lojack, normal dealer fees (tire fee, doc fee I think it was like 150 in fees) etc.... You can do much better then 33k + TTL and if you can't I will help you but you have to be ready and serious. Then when your deal is near done ask the sales manager if you order a couple parts at the time of purchase will they give them to you at 50% off (tell him or her that another dealer had offered that) most likely they will and then order your add ons through their parts department.

Come on guys cars like the TL being at the end of its model year, slow economy, high gas prices (vehicle uses premium and is a v6) are hard sells. This was a major reason I went with the tl instead of the g35, cts, and 528. As good deals can be had on those cars I got about 7.5k off the msrp on a great car. g35 I felt I could get about 4, cts 6 and the 528 about 4. Of course all three cars had higher msrp then the tl-s.

say when - thanks.

i think you are right. i was running lease numbers on this car i saw and it's just nuts. way too high.

i would be better off to just get a "regular" standard TL and then get these parts online on ebay or through the parts department at wholesale and put themon myself. i am not a mechanic, but in the past i've done shocks/springs/exhausts and other bolt on type stuff..so a bodykit should be within my skill set. at least the OEM bolt on types.

i don't need the dumb carbon fiber steering wheel.

i also have a trade in. any suggestions. my car is a 1999 Volvo S70 T5 with 135,000.. i'ts worth crap. they offered me 1600. i think i could sell it privately for 3000. but it would be nice to unload the car now. if i could get 2000-2500 in trade it would be worth it to just be done with it. do the dealers typically lowbal me on the trade and in reality they would give me a bit more, or is the initial offer on a tradeusually ALL they will do. i bet i could squeeze them for more to do a deal.

it does complicate things when you are tyring to work a deal - but you have a trade. trying to see what they will give you on a trade is tough.

as to ordering the parts - do you suggest working that out at the time of purchase and then ordering the parts right then when you buy the car? then get them to do install cheap or just do it yourself.

suggestions? thanks "say when" i appreciate your feedback / motivation.

i can do better!!

where did you get the offer to buy the car for 33k OTD w/aspec? do you mean OTD by you bough the car AND then AFTER Tax, Title, licednse - it ws 33k flat? b/c that means you bought the car close to 31k even!!

06 Acura TL and "say when" - did you buys buy using your own financing, like a blank auto loan dheck , or did you use Acura's special financing / lease program?

i wonder if some of the lower prices i'm seeing offered are for people who buy and do not use any special financing - so that Acura kicks in more money toward the deal... but if you lease and get a low MF or use their 2.9% program, they don't drpo the price as much b/c Acura is basically kicking some more money in to get the rate down...

i'm shooting to get it for down near 32k flat or lower

The dealership doesn't want your Volvo they are going to take it to an auction most likely so there is no value in trading it in. Craigslist for a running 1999 volvo you have got to be able to get a quick 2k.

Second on the pricing I got it did not include the special Honda 2.9 for 60 at the time. I did however finance through Honda at a rate of 4.49 for 60 which was the rate for good credit with out Acura having to buy it down. If you took the 2.9 they added 2500 to the car (the market support money) which made it not as good of a deal as to the overall cost of the car.

My advice would be to sell the volvo on craigslist, ebay, auto trader, signs in the window parked on the weekend etc....

In the mean time get your price quote through email. Then contact the sales manager and let him or her know you want to use Honda finance based on your credit. They should not have problem with it.

As far as the parts. You may want to worry about little add ons later and just be happy with the new ride. However if I was buying a body kit I would to work that in as a dealer installed extra on top of the deal. However Honda finance may not be willing to finance say more then 35k so you would have to put a small down payment if you choose that option.

Ok hope that helps. Let me know if the emails don't show a msrp of under 32k before ttl and I will contact the sales manager I used at Alhambra and ask if we can match the deal I got. It has been over 2 months since I purchased and I can only assume they are just as hungry now as they were then. Good luck.

some emails are popping up. i have been offered $32961. still nothing under $32k

i will private party my car.

so far no one has come close to $32k on the car. I will try to get them to throw in the body kit. the car at Cerritos had the body kit, but also had some carbon fiber parts and a carbon fiber steering wheel. they wanted almost $2k more for that crud, too much.

if I can get a standard TL-S for $32k flat, then the "optioned" car they had should be going for a whole lot less than thne $35,500 they want.

I can get the body kit online for about $800 + $150 shipping. then $300 installed. so to get it "added" on and part of the deal, it's worth $1200 or so.

i could also just buy the car, enjoy the new nice car and add the body kit later if i can't live w/out it. it'll cost me about $40/month on my lease to get that kid added on and rolled into the payment. i get bonuses/overtime checks every few months with my job - i might jsut wait for one of those and do the body kit then when I have some extra cash on hand, and no finance the body kit into the car.

but so far, i can't get the car much under $33k. if you have someone at Alhambra that can do the deal for $32k, let me know. i am ready to jump on it.

thanks guys. this is like watching thej feed off each other.. they are hungry for business

BTW...I just sold a 2000 Volvo S80 with 160K miles for $4200 two weeks ago. It was not in perfect condition but ran solid and had an inspection done. Sold via Craigslist.

You can get more than $2k for that Volvo. I would try to sell it yourself for sure.

Don't know if you are interested or where you are, but there is a NICE 2007 TL-S in Cleveland that I found. Silver, navi, loaded with 17k miles for $26,940.

I should have waited on my car. I bought it three months ago and they have dropped in value a couple thousand since then. Hopefully they stabalize some after the08's are gone.

two other dealerships are competing to get me to buy the car from them. i faxed them my offer at 32.5 and they are going to "beat" it. i'm guessing 32,000 or 32,300.

not a bad deal. wiht minimum drive offs and a lease, i'll be well under 500 month. almost $425 or so. then i'll sell my volvo and probably get 3500-4000 to put toward pyaments.
