Help deciding.....

Whether to keep or return my 05 TL with Navi...

Well, basically I leased the car and it's maturing next month and I have to decide if I want to keep it or return it.. The buyout is $21,600 including my final lease payment. The major factor is I'm way over the mileage by 20,000, to be exact, at $.15 comes to $3000.. However, I just called Acura and in NJ, they have a program where they pay half of the cost for the addtl mileage. As I said it's a 2005 and it has 61,000 at the moment. Any suggestions what I should do? What's the best route to take- trade it in for a new 08 type S perhaps? Is it worth getting into a newer car with my avg daily commute of 70 miles?? Just buy it out?? Thanks.

i would say talk to the dealer hwere you bought it from, if you buy another car from them, they may "forget" abt the 20k over...

thats what my dealership did...

it depends on if you want to stick with acura or not...

i say go for an 08 type-s NBP...

A couple of problems... I don't live near there anymore and I hate their service and prefer to deal with another dealer.. I may go just to see what they offer tho..

you could still and try to work out a deal with the new dealer...

i would call the dealer and bring it up hypothetically and see if you get any good response...

The car is worth just below what you are paying in the buyout so you aren't gonna make any money on it if you plan to sell it. I would see what the dealer can do for you. Now with the 09 coming out, I am sure they can make you a sweet deal on an 08. You can't beat the type-s for the money. Let us know what you end up with.

Talk to local dealers, see what they can do. And alk to the old dealer too. Just because you buy from them doesn't mean you have to get service from them.

$3,000 is a lot of money to give up. You basically save that $3k (at least in the short run) if you just buy the car out. IOW - if the car is worth what you owe on the open market, you don't lose anything buying it out.

If you can get the $3k waived or reduced by enough to matter, get into an '08 TL-S. That'd be the best of both worlds, IMHO.

I went to an acura dealership over the weekend and they weren't too willing to work with me and wave anything for the addtl miles. They wanted to add the money into the new car which for the type S they were already estimated at $550 for a lease.. Way more than what I'm looking for in a monthly payment. I'm against getting the same exact model car too so I may have to buy this one out.

You need to check the value of the used car, as a trade in or if you sell it yourself. Here in Dallas the trade in value is $20,100, if you buy it out of the lease you will save about $1,500.

The sale value is $23,175 so you could even make a $1,500. I would think you would buy the car and then resell it, either as a trade in or an out right sale.
