Help attaching front license plate holder

Hey Folks,

I'm in MA, so I'm supposed to have my front license plate .

I think I understand how to attached the holder, but I'm just confirming. I pop out the two disks from the front bumper and screw the two pan head screws through the plastic behind those disks, right? Basically these screws are self tapping.

I see another hole in the middle of the top part of the holder, but I don't have any screw supplied for it, and there isn't anything in the bumper which would lead me to believe that I'm supposed to screw that part in. What holds the holder on the top? Seem to me like it's too loose.

Thanks!

Yep, just those two screws on the bottom. The plate and holder aren't that heavy that you really need anything on the top; just don't try using the front plate as a step when washing the hood.

NBP, why?

I do worry about vibration of this holder, and it messing up the front bumper.

Check your glove box and the areas around the spare tire. If nothing, check a nearby dealer - they may have "extras".

Last resort is to order them from a dealer - not really expensive; ~$11 each.

My dealer snail mailed me a set as a good will item..no charge. Try asking your salesman, he is more apt to listen.

Vibration of this holder is not an issue if you secure it snugly as indicated.

I live in MS where a front tag is not required, and yet I run counter to most opinions on this board, in that I PREFER a front tag/holder on my car. I learned this when I accidentally backed into another car that crept up close behind me in a parking lot a few years back. His front tag/holder saved his front bumper from damage and thus saved me from an insurance claim (also minimized the damage to my rear bumper).

My front tag/holder on my TL has already saved me from more sever damage when I got zinged by a large road stone that flew up in front of me while driving...the tag/holder took the brunt of it.

I just wonder how short someone must be for this idea to even occur?

I've seen these plates on pick-up trucks before (you know, the one which also have step-ladders to get into).
