Help - Acura HID Headlight Bulb Replacement, and Headlight Removal -condensation prob

Hi all,

been searching for a while and I cannot seem to find what I am looking for. My buddy came to me because he knows I am somewhat good with cars (Audi/vw is my jam).

His drivers headlight filled up with condensation, and blew his HID bulb. I suspect it's a poor seal on the headlight, and I wanted to inspect the seal, and replace the bulb.

Based on my research, seems that a 4300k morimoto bulb is the cheapest, most reliable solution to the bulb at $50.

I realize I need to remove the bumper, and I found a nice youtube video which tells me how to do this.

Further, I am basically looking for any further guidance on how to properly remove the headlights, and also, for anyone who has done this, or experienced condensation in the headlights if you have any tips or suggestions.

Thanks in advance,

scott

You'll find that removing bumpers and headlights are a lot easier on these Hondas/acuras than vw/Audi. Removal will be self explanatory and only thing that may be tricky is the bolts holding the ballast bracket for the headlight to the frame

I've had the problem ever since I bought my car. It hasn't been too bad though. No yellowing/oxidation. I had one headlight replaced after an accident and a new genuine one was put by a professional body shop. Same minor condensation when its really cold. Hoping to learn something from this thread.

After I switched to Type S headlights my driver side kept getting condensation and
blowing the bulb 3 times. You have to remove part of the fender liner and the entire
bumper then remove the headlight to replace the bulb. The fourth Time it happened which
was yesterday I manage to replace the bulb from the top by the battery without removing
anything. It's a pain, but can be done with a little patience. I used The Phillips 4300k bulb which is the cheapest at $35 shipped.
