Are headlight and taillight tints/overlays cheesy?
In an ideal world, I would bake and do all that great stuff to my headlights... BUT, I don't have the balls! Plus, knowing my luck, something will go wrong and they'll end up all foggy.
As an alternative, many will say to send them to JNC. I would love to, but my car is my daily driver, and I can't let it sit while I wait to get the lights back. I know I can do the trade-in program, but the net cost will be hard to justify to my wife. She'll say they work fine, and I should spend that money on my kids.
So, that leaves me with one last resort... Headlight and taillight overlays from Bat. What do you guys think about them? Are they cheesy? I would just get the light smoke partial overlay for the headlights (the one that covers the turn signal only), and the cut-out one for the taillights.
Should I get them, or just rock the OEM factory look?
Thanks in advance!!!

I have smoked headlights, tail lights and markers. I think they look good. Especially if you have tinted windows.
Only draw back is the headlights are pretty dim when driving at night.

I've had the overlay on my headlights and still have them on my side markers. Pics here:

I don't think there were "cheesy", but an actual blacked or cleared light is much better.
You CAN do the mod. It's as easy as it sounds, just follow the instructions carefully. Find a local AcuraZiner to help. Two tips that will save you a LOT of hassle with fogging:
- Reseal with Nissan Buytl Rubber Sealant. Best Stuff EVAR.
- Reinsert dessicant packs (preferably new).

I think it can look good, but can also get overdone and look bad very easily. Don't go too dark. I have my tails and side markers tinted, and it has a nice deep cherry color to it.

I didn't know the headlights have dessicant packs in them... Are they literally like the ones you find in shoe boxes?
Also, thanks guys for the advice.
I am still leaning towards the overlays because of time...
However, if I wanted to find someone to help, how do I go about doing that? Post in the local forum?

There are dessicant packs in the OE lights. They are essentially the same as you might find in a shoe box, but larger.
Assuming you're from Sacremento, post something here asking for help: https://acurazine.com/forums/california-308/

If done ever so slighty, no. Everything else, yes very cheesy.

Wow, thanks for all the responses...
Well, I definitely wasn't planning on fully tinting the front headlights... Just a LIGHT smoke over the turn signal. Since it's fairly inexpensive, I am leaning towards just trying it to see how it looks on my AM TL. I think a light smoke (35%) over the turn signal (on the headlight) might blend in fairly nice with the color of the car. Thoughts?
I guess since tinting the tails isn't cheesy, I go ahead and do that.

i don't think either would be tacky, just as long as its not too dark. i don't have it on my TL but i have a blacked out 4runner and I get comments left and right i'll try and post pics of it.
