Hawk HPS users step inside

Looking for some feedback from users using the Hawk HPS pads on their cars as I just had a set along with Hawk's Sector 27 rotors installed on my 08 Type-S. I notice that when I come to a progressive stop they seem to be a bit noisy a few seconds before the car is fully stopped, like a rubbing sound. Anyone else experience this?

And yes, I did follow the burnishing instructions.

Yes, I used to run HPS on my Saabaru and they were not as quiet as advertised. I downgraded from HP+ in hopes of getting better road manners, but eventually ditched both in favor of Centric parts.

Running Hawk HPS all around, some of the better brakes I've used on the TL so far. I'll trade the slight squeaking for the braking confidence any day. Brakes feel firm and solid.

I have zero squealing at this point, just like a mild grinding/rubbing sound when coming to a stop. I found the factory Brembo pads and rotors to have better braking power but the dust is killer.

I don't hear the rubbing or grinding, may be worth it to pull the brakes and see if there is debris between rotors and pads, or that a pad didn't bust or crack.

Any grooves when running finger across rotors?

The rotors are new but no grooves felt when running fingernail/finger across the surface.

If you have mild chattering or rubbing, then you need to burnish again. Post your method here. I have zero squeak and chattering/rubbing noise. Hawk HPS dust a ton, but I don't really care, I love the stopping power of these pads.

I've head some slight squeals when cold from my Hawk pads. Other than that are you sure what your hearing isn't just the hum of the pads passing over the slots?

When I first got my slotted rotors, i was surprised I could hear a slight hum of the pads as I came to a progressive stop, mostly at lower speeds when road noise isn't as loud.

You may be on to something in regards to the slots, this is the first time I am using them coming from a factory solid rotor.

I followed the instructions on the box. Should I be doing something different?

Drive up to 60mph, then brake hard down to 10mph, but don't stop. Do this 10 times until you see brakes smoking.
