Hate Nyc Drivers! Very sad after someone did this to my car...Suggestions, advice pls

Ok so this is the sad story...Thursday morning I drive to Brooklyn where I work (I work from 10-8, and have to leave my car parked out all day in a crappy neighberhood... to make the story short someone backed up into my car (most likely a SUV with those metal bars around it, and damaged my passenger side left bumper...

I posted a picture of the damage below...

Give me some advice on what I can do, I was thinking of purchasing CARBON FIBER AERO AIR DUCT INTAKE & putting it in the place where the Suv did the damage...

or should I replace the entire bumper?

let me know what you guys think, any opinions what else can be done...

thanks

just get a new bumper. you will be putting an intake duct on the wrong side of the car. its both rice and wrong.

yea Sixsixfour you're right I thought about that... but I its my only option since a new bumper will cost my around 200-300 and then painting NBP... setting me back around $700

I had someone hit and run my car a while back but insurance covered it. Not sure if it's different in your state or not.

I hate parking in Brooklyn. Everytime I go out to my car I have to check to make sure that no idiots hit me. I say go for the new bumper. Keep the busted bumper and then when the new new bumper gets hit you have a choice to put on the best of the two busted bumpers... Did that make any sense??? Good Luck.

I want to get one of those huge ass tow hooks on the front bumper just so when I park in the city and someone wants to use my car as a bumper car I rip a nice gash into their bumper.

Oh and to the OP, your better off getting a new bumper or ebay or the black market and painting it again.

How about a junkyard? You maybe able to score a bumper cover for cheap.

eur0diesel,

What happened to your car is definitely a drag, but not all NYC drivers are as inconsiderate as the guy who hit you. I find owners of SUV's, Beamers, and Benz's to have that 'I'm Superior To You' attitude the most. They think they have a 15" d|ck because of the kind of vehicle they drive. My cousin's friend has worked the corporate customer service lines for MB for over 20 years and says most of those people suffer from that exact mental illness. From my experience, Brooklyn and Bronx drivers tend to be more like that on average versus the rest of the 5 boroughs.

Good luck with the repairs ...........

NYC is a war zone... I parked my car in Queens... a very nice neighborhood, for just 1 hour and I find that someone dented my rear passenger door... good thing that I already had an appointment at a bodyshop to do some custom work done... it was still irritating that it happened.

You wouldn't need a new bumper. The existing can be repaired and repainted... no more than $300 to fix... which is probably less than you deductible.

Good luck...

sounds like you need full coverage insurance with a low deductible to park in NYC.

man sh*t happens. I remember some jackazz rear ending my bumper while parked. left 4 holes meaning he rear ended my car not once but twice. And this was a week after i had purchased my tl-s. cost me 300 to repaint the entire bumper and mold the holes.

wherever you have to parallel park you have to keep a vigil for idiots parking their car.
I live in queens too and know what you mean. A lot of people just dont care for others property.

Dude, that sucks man, especially when you just got the new bumper on there... im with you on crappy NYC parkers, i got mine messed up but definitely not as bad as yours.

I say just get it fixed at a body shop, or if its too pricey fix up the paint scratches and put a nice bumper sticker in place until you can afford the fix.

People with the piece of crap cars do the same thing. My aunts used to live in Bay Ridge and one of them had a two-door Oldsmobile. She'd double-park and just throw the door open, not caring what sort of damage it might do to other cars, under the theory that a car can't survive a week in Brooklyn without getting some sort of dings or dents. They now live out at Breezy Point and I don't know whether they've improved their attitudes on this issue. I hate taking a car into New York City if I can possibly avoid it. (Plus at least half the people on their block in Bay Ridge didn't put the cards with their addresses on their windshields when they double-parked on alternate-side parking days, which makes it a mega pain in the arse when you want to get your car out but you don't know who's double-parking you in.)
