Question Has anyone purchased an '04 in the Chicago area?

I test drove the new TL at McGrath Acura the other day. Wow! The car was even nicer than I could have imagined. Bottom line, I'm hooked. I simply must have this car. Unfortunately, the salesperson made it very clear that they would not discount the car even one penny. As much as I love the car, I have always found it hard to justify paying MSRP. Of course, this is the first time I have ever been in the market for a car that was this new and hot.

I was wondering if anyone in the Chicago area has had any luck getting their dealership to come below MSRP? If so, where?

Thanks!

I am in Wisconsin but shopped the Chicago area dealers. I found that the Internet Manager at Ed Napleton Acura was the the most willing to discount off of MSRP. Either fill out their online request form or call and ask for the Internet Manager - sorry I don't have a name - my notes are at the office.

I don't know of any one discounting yet, but wait. Unlike my 99 TL and 01 MDX, there are unsold 04 TLs on dealers lots. Woodfield and Arlington have about 10 each. Talking to one of the sales managers at Woodfield, he said they are getting 30 in the next several weeks. He believes they will start discounting by x-mass. It was not until 4 months ago that you could find an unsold MDX. Thats' about 2 years.

I purchased mine from McGrath in Westmont. Got a lease for the same deal Continental was offering me for a TSX! Replaced a 2002 300M. New TL is awesome. My sales Guy at McGrath was Dean Wareh. Good guy.

Sales person at Napleton who was willing to discount off of MSRP was Ali Najfi - 630-941-4300.

McGrath Acura insists on MSRP

I've been working with Ryan Phillips at McGrath. I test drove the TSX and TL. While I think they both have great features, I have yet to be convinced that either is worth paying full MSRP. J.D. Power, Edmunds, and Consumer Guide have conflicting views of the TSX. Consumer Guide doesn't even recommend it. Some current Acura owners feel Acura quality has gone down in recent years. When talking about price with Ryan, I found he wouldn't budge from the MSRP--not even a few hundred dollars. He pointed to the free car washes at the dealer, great service, and great reputation of Acura as incentives to buy a car there. I remain an unmotivated customer.
