Hairs coming through seat perforations?
When I washed my car yesterday, I noticed that the driver's seat has tiny black hair-like stuff poking though the holes in the leather. I'm the only user of the car so the drivers seat gets the most wear. I figure this is some sort of backing material coming through the perforations. It looks bad, sort of like razor stubble. It is happening on about 1/4 of the seat, mostly toward the front.
Anyone else have this? Have they talked to a dealer about it? I did a search and didn't find any posts.
Just trying to find out if anyone has dealt with this. I've had my car since November. Just hope I don't have to start shaving my seat (the car's that is...).

I can't believe they haven't fixed this. This was a known problem on the TL-S, CL-S, and MDX which were all fitted with perforated leather. One thing's different, the little hairs used to be white instead of black and that made them really stand out.

Are they lil white feather like threads coming out of the perforated part of the leather? b/c I have a 2002 TL-S and I have the same problem. I just pick them out one by one. I just thought that they were threads of leather coming out from the other side of the cow hyde. Not sure tho...

I had these in my old CL....they actually pop up when the car is newer and slowly fade away....never found that these things were very noticable. I have seen the same problem with perforated leather seats in other cars too.

To answer rjoe's question, the threads/hairs are black and about 1/8 to 1/4 of an inch long when you pull them out. I guess they could be from the back part of the leather. Great, now I have to pluck my car seats.
You think that Acura would have something to prevent this. It probably wouldn't be so noticable, but I have gray seats and the black threads show up pretty well.

but yeah...mines are white threads. Oh well...doesn't bother me too much. I can't see 'em when I'm sitting on 'em. So............. so states srjoe36.
Ah when boys begin to realize they are becoming men.
I've got the little hairs too. But, they're gray.

A what?
TSB # 04-031 Brazilian Waxing the Butt Prints.
Acura recognizes the problem with hair growth through the leather perforations in the TL seats. This is due to some hides that were shipped by a supplier that came from Brazilian Wart Hogs instead of Chinese cattle.
After confirming the situation exists, offer the client one of three approved fixes: 1) (Brazilian cure) Use a hand-held lint shaver from Ronco to remove all growth. 2) (Porn Queen cure) Same as #1 except leave a small, rectangular "landing strip" down the middle 3) (Sister cure) Braid it and then wrap braids in a circle following the line of the butt prints. :clown:
