Groundhog chewed through BOTH rear wheel sensors! QUESTIONS FOR YA!

I am aware of the following thread: VSA Lights Came On (3GTL Garage# D-046)

Went out today and found in my closed up garage, one angry lil critter. Needless to say the truce between man and beast at my property is now over...

Anyway, the thing chewed up my undertire sound damping mat material up near the top (not TOO bad, it is what it is, on BOTH sides), it ran all over my hood (no scratches luckily), but worst of all, it chewed clean thru both sides my wheel sensors! Nothing else, just those two... Brake lines OK, etc...

Anyone know how much the sensors are? Whether it is possible to change them myself? And if I have the dealer do it, roughly how much it might set me back?

Thanks for comments in advance!!!

(Other than the OBVIOUS cuts in the lines, the symptoms internal are: VSA light on, ABS light on, BRAKE light on.)

It truly does appear that for some reason, wires on our TL's just draw the animals in!!!

sorry to hear of what you're gong through..

since speed sensors are critical components of VSC and ABS, I would get them replaced through the dealership.

But one got to admit... that was a really funny story!

Here's the scans and the parts list for the sensors. Looks like an easy do it yourself job. The dealer will probably get you for at least an hour's labor, around $85, maybe more. You can call them and get an estimate.

Click here for the Parts List

NOW with PICS! LOL...

Thx for the replies so far! Here are some pics since the last thing I wanna see is:

RonA or whomever: Can someone CONFIRM for sure that the items chewed though are indeed the wheel sensors that I had thought they were? There's really not anything else I could think they could be!!?!?! THANKS!

That really sucks tho i have to admit funny.

If that wire is going to a magnet and a gear with a set of teeths then yeah its the wheel speed sensor.

buy a mustang car cover and you might be able to trick it. did you end up catching the thing? lol. sprinkle poison on your crucial car parts.

It looks like it, but if the speed sensors were chewed through, you should be getting a light on the dashboard, probably the VSA light and maybe the MIL light. You will have to start the engine to see which lights come on, but it won't hurt anything. Might not hurt to drive it but you won't have VSA if it is the sensors.

Just follow the wire to the wheel and if it is bolted on near the caliper then it is the wheel sensor.

My Predator drone is in the shop... But I was thinking these black beauties (my favs till the TL showed up!) might deployed in the recently declared war:

And if THAT doesn't work... Far be it from me not to call in the BIG GUNS from my arsenal!!!

Yeah, there are a few things lit on my dash:

VSA light on, ABS light on, BRAKE light on, and the lil triangle with exclamation point is also on.

If they are on after you start the engine, then you got a problem.

In order to prevent collateral damage you are going to need to make a decoy TL, than use the LAW to assure destruction of the enemy. Until you have a chance to get it fixed at the dealer or order the part you could use some wire, a soldiering iron, and heat shrink tubing for a temp fix. Ghetto repair (usually)>broken car.
