This is a repost of post 46 in this thread because for some reason a few of my original photos got "ImageJacked".

Another member asked me for some information on wiring the Accord fog lights and switch to the TL. Here are some locations that I tapped into. I hope this information makes some of your installs easier.

I only used three of the four wires coming from the accord switch. I used the Black(ground), Green(12V power signal that goes to the included Accord relay on the harness under the hood) and a Red/Black stripe wire(12V signal going into the switch from a parking light signal in the Acura TL).

There is an extra solid red wire that is supposed to be used for illumination control for the little light in the switch but I just taped it off and didn't use it. The light on the switch illuminates at full intensity in the on position without this solid red wire connected. I didn't need to see the light to know my fogs were on so I ended up painting the switch button solid black.

This is where I tapped into the under hood fuse box for the main 12V power that goes to the fog light relay and then directly to the bulbs. Make sure you use an inline fuse, of course. Use extreme caution with this terminal and do not accidentally ground it out or the Fourth of July will come early this year!

Hey,

I just got my Foglight a few weeks ago on ebay and the harness look a little bit differnt then yours.

I want to install this so i can control the foglight independently from the rest of the lights.

I need some some guidance to install this. Any help would be great.

why don't u just tap into the wires that goes to the integrated fog light that comes with our car? all you need is 4 wires about a foot and a half long...

Is there any spicing involved? I dont want to damage any factory wires, incase some thing happen and the dealership blame it on that.

If you can provide more details that would be great.

check my thread... https://acurazine.com/forums/ramblings-12/very-pissed-about-college-formals-161376/

and
https://acurazine.com/forums/ramblings-12/new-joke-161831/

some helpful members chipped in on the wiring schem. I took the lazy way out and just spliced the wires... it's really safe and if you do decide to remove it (have no idea why)... all u need to do is unclip the splice clip... just use the electrical tape to tape the wires up... I took the car to the dealership and their best electrical mechanic took a look at the wiring... he said it was a simple wire tap and a clean job... most importantly, it won't void the warrenty.

I ordered the 2003-2005 4dr OEM looking fog lights from Ebay. I think they came out to $60.00 after shipping. Here's a picture of the ones I bought.

See post #10 in this thread if you want to see what I spent on the grill parts.

Neither grill is the best. It's just a preference to which look you like better. This guy chose the honeycomb grill and it looks OK but he could've done a better job on the installation.

Crook, that is an excellent install......I studied your postings and used them to wire my own fogs........just wired them, and then put in 3000k HID's. But I used the wiring from the driving lights. Cut them at the point they go into the bulbs, and then ran them down into the 03 Accord sedan fogs........I didnt use an extra relay, b/c the running lights already have that, so it was a straightforwad install. One thing though, I am not feeling the light distribution. any suggestions for getting a sharp cutoff? I was thinking projectors, but I dont see how I can get them in the foglight housing.

I am a newbie from the 350Z forums, had a slammed 350Z with a 150 shot nitrous, and I am quickly learning from all of you....thanks for all of your posts!

Thanks,
I really didn't use an "extra" relay either. The relay that you see in the pictures is the one that came with the accord wiring harness. If you ended up installing a true HID kit then you wouldn't need the relay since you will be using ballasts. What are you tapping into to supply the power for your HID ballasts/bulbs? Did you tap directly to the battery or your driving lights? I was just curious if the driving light circuit would be able to handle the load of a HID Kit.

I agree with you on the light distribution. I think it has more to do with the mirrored reflector in the light. I don't have a sharp horizontal cut off line either and I think the only way to get that is to use a projector kit/lens.

Its my opinion that the extra accord fog/auxillary lights serve more for the aesthetics on the vehicle than true functionality. The extra lights may also make you more visible oncoming drivers just as daytime driving lights do.

I do notice more visibility at the front corners of the vehicle but I haven't noticed any significant differences while using the lights in inclement weather such as rain or heavy fog. You will still need to use your headlamps.

I like the look of having an extra set of lights in the lower bumper and I'm glad I did the install.

Glad to be of some help with your install.

I wired it directly to the driving light circuit, and so far so good for the last two weeks. No flickering, and no blown fuses, and the ballasts are holding up well.

I do notice a lot more light in front, but again, I would like to fit in some projectors at some point so the light isn't in such a sloppy distribution pattern. Again, thanks for the detailed postings.

It's the brushed aluminum. You can see it on the front of my car.

The black chrome bar has a different part number.

Last question.

I know the accord fogs are smaller than TL fogs. Did you try fitting the accord fogs into the holes of the 07/08 grills? I'm pretty sure its not a direct fit, but it could probably be done so you dont have to cut up the 07/08 grill (too much).

The Accord fogs are smaller and have a different oval shape than the holes in the 07/08 grills.

The 07/08 lower grill piece will not fit in the 04-06 bumper because of the extended length at the outside edges. Even if you try to trim a little off of the edge of the grill piece to make it fit, you will end up trimming off some of the oval opening in the grill. It just won't look right with a partial shroud around your fog light.

Crook,

I have already ordered my Ebay fog kit and waiting to do the install. What grill pieces do I need to order for my 05TL so it looks like yours??
Mesh R FR Bumper NH533
71102-SEP-A20ZA
Mesh R FR Bumper NH533
71107-SEP-A20ZA

And if this is correct just call my ACURA dealer to order?
Am I right?
Thanks in advance for all the noob questions CROOK.

You are correct but you need to make sure you get some of the metallic cross bars too. They go on the lower grills. Either the aluminum finish or the darker ones. You can order them from your local dealer or do like I did and ordered them from Acura's website (parts store) and had them shipped to my local dealer. Shipping should be free and only took about 2 days.

This is from post 10 of this thread:

Here is what I ordered.
The main mesh grill below the hood.
Items(s) Part Number Qty.MESH, FR. BUMPER GRILLE *NH533*
- Includes Dealer Installation 71120-SEP-A10ZA 1 $12.29
Subtotal $12.29
Labor Subtotal $0.00
Shipping $0.00
Tax $0.92
Total $13.21

Here are the other parts.
Lower bumper mesh grill, left and right side.

MESH, R. FR. BUMPER (LOWER) *NH533*
- Includes Dealer Installation 71102-SEP-A20ZA 1 $20.09
MESH, L. FR. BUMPER (LOWER) *NH533*
- Includes Dealer Installation 71107-SEP-A20ZA 1 $20.09

Aluminum "looking" horizontal bars that clip to the lower mesh grills.
BAR, R. FR. BUMPER MESH CROSS (LOWER) *NH669M*
- Includes Dealer Installation 71121-SEP-A10ZA 1 $15.40
BAR, L. FR. BUMPER MESH CROSS (LOWER) *NH669M*
- Includes Dealer Installation 71126-SEP-A10ZA 1 $15.40

Subtotal $70.98
Labor Subtotal $0.00
Shipping $0.00
Tax $5.32
Total $76.30

so the mesh grill below the hood is a direct swap for the p/n you listed above Crook? I thought the 04-06 grills were different from the type-s grill?

Crook,
but with my 05 are the fogs with these inserts going to look "off" cause of what you stated below?

"The Accord fogs are smaller and have a different oval shape than the holes in the 07/08 grills.

Im in the process of attempting that right now. I've trimmed the type-s grills to fit my 05 bumper. You do have to cut into the fog light shroud a bit, but I think I can make it work. Hopefully will finish this up this weekend and I'll post pics.

It is not a direct swap. I had to modify the grill mesh by cutting it in half horizontally. See the earlier photos in this thread.
