Is this a good price for an Acura TL Type-S?
I've been looking for a 2007 TL or G35 on a budget for quite a while now. I test drove a TL Type-S a few days ago and now I want it REAL BAD! Remorsefully, I left the negotiations with the guy because I wasn't comfortable with the price he was asking, given the condition of the car. I would love know whether or not you guys think what he was asking was a good price.
Here's the info on the car:
- 2007 TL Type-S
- Former lease vehicle
- 87,500 miles
- 6 Speed Manual Transmission
- Clean Carfax***
- ***: Car had a ripple in the driver's side door that indicated a repaired dent. I took the car to an independent mechanic and they verified the damage assessment. They also confirmed that it was purely cosmetic (no frame damage). They also determined that the car was in good condition and there were no apparent engine, transmission or electrical problems.
After negotiating a bit, the guy bottomed out at $17,000.
Is this a good price or would I be overpaying if I called the guy back and took the deal? Thanks

I think a "good price" is what you are willing to pay for the car. Do some research on KBB.com, edmunds and carfax. I will say this, I think I saw a 2007 type-s in the members cars for sale section with something like 33,000 miles for $23,500 and it was one owner accident free and very well maintained.
YOu said you got him down to $17,000, what was he asking originally? What color is it? Does he have any service records? Are the wheels curbed? Brakes, Tires in good shape?

Regular maintenance was done at an Acura dealsership, with the exception of brake pads, which were replaces aftermarket and in good shape.
Color: Silver with standard TL Type-S inerior
Original asking price was $17,500 + + +
I got him down to $17,00 drive out, which would have brought the sticker down to about $15,400.

thats a good deal. I bought mine for 19,000 with 85k miles. not a lease the guy just drove a lot. all maintenence done at an Acura dealer. Get it!!! I wouldn't worry about the door. If it bothers you that much just replace it, you would still be getting a great deal.

If it's the one in Marietta, I'd say that's a great price. Just have the car checked out before you finalize the purchase.
Looks like the car was purchased at the auction and checked out by Nally Acura, then I would say it was then purchased by American Financial although they haven't had the title updated. Probably don't want to go through with the transfer and will wait until they move the car. I would be concerned as to why Nally let the car go, but maybe Nally has information on the car, so call them and have them check their records, maybe via VIN.
