Good non-oem all weather floor mats?
OK, I really don't want to spend $100 on a set of floor mats, so was wondering if there is a decent non-oem set of tan rubber floor mats for less than $40. What are the cheaper alternatives out there? My Walmart did not have anything.
Thanks!
Mike

Try another wally world!
Mine had several colors (tan, grey black), although they were called "Truck" Mats.
I just use an extra set of plastic floor mats over the TLs stock mats. Salesman says it looks ratty, but my stock mats still look brand new.

There should be another thread around somewhere about this...
People have used Rubbermaid's generic all-weather mats. Based on recommendations here, I purchased a set from Target (about $20). I had to trim the driver's side one a bit to make it fit, but so far (3+ weeks) they've worked well. They are soft enough so that you can use a regular pair of scissors for trimming.

but you can call me Ken.
I used the carpet protector from Home Depot that you buy by the foot. It's the clear plastic one with the teeth. I just used the oem floor mats as sort of a stencil to cut the carpet protector to fit. it works pretty well.

I figure I will probably have to trim a little bit. I just don't want it to be excessive where water/snow will channel through to the carpet underneath. I will check Walmart and Target again and see what those are like. I do want to get a set that has some decent grooves for any moisture, and am usually not all that into the look of clear mats (so tan would be my preference).
Thanks for the replies.
Any other options/opinions?

Here is the generics I bought in 1993 and used them in every vehicle I have had since .. I use them year round and they still look good .. I'm not sure but I think they are called Weather tech or something. I see them in Wally World all the time.

I went to Kragen and picked up some random floor mats that are designed for trucks and SUVs and I cut it to fit my TL.
I also took the long flat mats that vans use for the rear passengers and cut that to fit both rear passenger sides and used the remaining skinny piece for the bump in the middle.
I will take pics when I get a chance.

Hey, has anyone tried the Michelin Extreme floor mats. just bought tonite, had to cut the driver one a bit to fit under the pedals, but they seem really tough and durable. well find out this winter

Unfortunately, there are not any Costcos by me. Went to another Walmart. They had a promising 2 piece set, but it is too wide on the driver's side (even if I trim it to the skinniest option).
So, am I stuck? I checked out Checker auto, Target, Shopko, Sears, which didn't have anything, and Walmart, which only had the above mats.

They look nice, but again, at $80 for the set of four mats, I might as well go OEM. I am really looking for a set of four for around $30 if possible. I'll spend the money on OEM if I have to, but I would just like to get a less expensive set since I don't know how long I will keep the car, and they just get snow and crap all over them anyway...

You spent all the money on the car and then you're going to cheap out and buy low class mats? Nothing but Weather Tech for me. Handle any kind of water/snow and never got any on my carpet. Used them all last winter and they still look brand new.

Once again, I will probably only have the car through one winter, so I am hesitant to spending a lot of money on pieces of rubber.

Well, I guess I am going to have to go OEM. Thanks for the thoughts, but I really want a set that fits decently well, and I just can't find a set. I checked a bunch of places around me, and I guess I just need to bite the bullet and buy them. I guess I can resell them for a decent amount when I decide to sell the car.
Thanks for the input everyone; we gave it a shot.

So far so good, seem to be good quality, easy to trim.
