Good deal?
Okay, so even though its not completely what I want in a TL('07/08 WDP TL-S
).....there is an '04 WDP TL AT, 73k mile, rebuilt (paint job)= $12000 ![Too Cool](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/toocool.gif)
I know I might not come across any other TL's for 12G but should the rebuilt title stop me..?Checking out the car soon but hoping that the full paint job wouldnt go bad later on( it was done in '05).And 73K is pretty average right?
Just needed some input

Yes, as the 73K is about 15K per year, that is not unreasonable, but I personally certainly would stay away from a rebuilt/salvage car, especially if someone is stating that the title is due to a repaint, as that in itself is not a cause for a conditional title. The entire car was repainted after major body/mechanical repairs were performed so that the paint would match properly. Take a look at the CarFax report as at times it will indicate the damaged area. Ask the owner for documentation as to what was repaired on the vehicle.
If the work was done back in 2005 when the TL was only a year old, there must have been substantial damage as the insurance company wouldn't have declared it a total loss unless the estimated repair was around $20,000.
A great deal has to do with the person doing the repairs. I've seen cars that were totaled and when finished were as good as new, but as the salvage title stays with the car, it does hurt the resale value.
Sometimes a lower price doesn't equate to a great deal, so if concerned, I'd spend a little more to get something "original".
I picked this out as this is where I purchased our TL, but I realize it's not near your location, but an example:
2005 Acura TL w/Nav Price: $14,995.00
VIN Number: 19UUA66245A024170
Exterior Color: Satin Silver Metallic
Interior Color: Ebony
Mileage: 86501
Stock Number: 6473

Ask a couple highline used car dealers in your area to see if they will take to you a Adesa or Manheim auction that have Honda Financial cars coming off leases. There are many 2005 TL's going for around $14,000 that have 60k on the odometer. The used car dealer would charge $500-1000 for their trouble and paperwork.
The good ones will inspect the car for you and in some cases have a $1,500. paint depth meter that they run all over the car to look for paintwork.
Good luck !

$12,000 for a 04 with 73K with a rebuilt title is to much. I have had rebuilt title vehicles, and it all depends on the work. Check the carfax make sure there is no flood damage, then check inside the fender frames to see where it was hit, and if a shitty job was done, make sure there are no abnormal gaps between any of the panels and bumper etc.... and lastly make sure it drives straight and it doesn't pull to either side, if it does leave it! And then check the paint work allot these guys to a shitty job painting, and buffing, so make sure the paint matches, make sure there is no parts where it looks like a kid scribbled with a crayon. But offer him 10,500! 12K you can get a better acura, with lower millage with a rebuilt title.

Okay, so I just checked it out....Paint job was by MAACO
, but she did spend about $2000 on it, and I could see the pearl it looked fine except for the cracked front windshield, passenger side was replaced(and the interior on that door was just scratched tan ugh),the infamous creases on the seats
, and..the side skirt on the passenger side has some kinda air bubble going on.
But other than that, engine is fine and interior is nice(except for the passenger side) So I got it down to $10800 so I could do some minor fixes(window, side skirt*maybe even the Aspec
) and IF the paint goes bad maybe another paint job later on but with all that the car would probably be 13000. I wouldve taken pictures but I was already a teen girl testing her car so didnt wanna freak her out even more haha, I am so indecisive right now
so if theres anything else I should keep in mind please tell.
Final: '04 WDP TL AT, 73k mile, rebuilt (paint job)= $10800

If I were you, see if you can take the car to a body shop and have them over look it. I have a pretty keen eye for prior body work and things like that, but you'll be surprised what they might tell you. As for the Macco paint job, you get what you pay for. I've paid $400 bucks and got a shitty paint job which was expected, but my dad had his Landrover painted a few years ago with there top notch job, and it looks brand new to this day, which impresses me!
Also check the receipts from Macco and see if there is any warranty left on the paint.

The first car i ever purchased was a Toyota Camry with a salvage title. I was only 18 and didn't know much. I was just trying to get as much car for my dollar. Didn't have it inspected by a mechanic or run a CARFAX and ended up paying the price. I ran through two engines and a transmission with that car. Definitely regretted it.
I'm not saying that this will happen to you, but due dilligence is definitely in order. Have a mechanic look at it before you purchase. My
