Is this a good deal (2006 Acura TL)
I am looking for a used TL for my father who is going to be giving his car (05 Accord to my sisters...who don't even have their license yet..). I have a 05 Acura RL which has been done me pretty well but has next to zero aftermarket support (I have done J-Pipe and lightweight crank) and a stock RL is a bit slower than a stock TL. I have always like the look of a TL and the RL but the TL looks a bit sportier. Research is something I wish I would have done more of before I purchased my RL due to compressor/condensor problems and other little things, so I am doing the research for my dad before he purchases a car)
To the point:
I have come across a Black 2006 Acura TL with 188,888 miles. The interior is in MINT condition like something you would see at 40,000 miles. The engine bay looks like new or has been cleaned regularly, has the 5 speed automatic (my dad would never do stick anyway), has the navigation system which should mean its the top model. The tires have a decent amount of tread. The dealer is asking 9,990...lets call it $10,000. I think $9,000 is a good price considering the 100,000 mile maintenance (second time) is coming up again and I don't know what other issues this modle year has (which is why I am making this post)
My Question:
What are the most common issues this model/year has and what should be looking for / listening for when he goes to look/test drive this vehicle. I want to make sure he isn't going to get it and have to make a bunch of expensive repairs (besides the 200k maintenance). Should he just forget about this vehicle at 190,000k miles and what is a good price for this vehicle?

The car does look to be in great shape. These cars last a long time and are one of the most reliable vehicles on the road, that being said I still think the 10,000 price tag is way too high. You have to keep in mind you don't know how this particular TL was driven in 190,000 miles. If you search around I'm sure you can find a TL around $10k with a lot less miles. Good luck

What if it's usually highway driving?
I mean my 06 is at 103k
this is twice... I'm positive it's mostly highway
also since these TL's are reliable...
hard decision
get it
Edit: but yeah $10K is too much. Usually for that price, they are around 110K miles
dude where do you live?

That thought came into my mind about 20 minutes after entering this forum the problem is I just spend about $3000 on my RL in the past 2 months. Lighweight Crank ($150), RV6 J-Pipe ($470), NavTool ($220), USA Spec Audio Integration ($140), 100k Maintaince and More ($1400), SecondSkin Sound Proofing Material ($240), Backup Camera ($130), Wood Grain Wheel ($400)...the list just keeps going on. Plus I need the AWD being in the winter prone climate where my dad would benefit from FWD and better gas mileage.

06 Anthracite TL
Funny...I checked KBB with that mileage and they list a retail price of $11860 in excellent condition. That said, the car does have a lot of miles on it, and they will likely have it on the lot for a while. Offer less, say $8500 to $9000 and indicate to the dealer the timing belt will be needed soon (and possibly, drive belt and hoses). The worst they can say is no, and if they accept your offer, you get what you want. Otherwise, there are plenty of 06 TLs available. There really are no specific issues particular to this car. It was made in the middle of the production run and is very reliable. Mine has 80k on it and has needed nothing more than routine maintenance items.

I too bought a high mileage TL recently. The only difference between the one you have and mine is mileage (130000k for me) and I don't have nav. I paid 11,100 for mine in St. Louis. Did you get a car fax of the car? I would honestly say stay away from it and keep looking. There are plenty of TL's out there with lower mileage.

I think

It's in great condition, but you have to say to yourself, am I really about to spend $10k on a car that is almost at 200k miles? If you keep searching, I'm sure you will find a better deal.
Not being harsh or anything, because a well taken care of Honda motor will last forever, but I just don't think the price is right. I personally wouldn't recommend paying more than $8-9k OTD.

Mike's Car Depo....called them up today and said it sold yesterday..they said they have been getting alot of interest in these TL's lately. I have been looking around but for a TL with nav, good condition leather like picture above, black body color with 110k miles I am looking at prices of 16-17k..how much are people willing to budge these cars seem to sell fast but I am not sure.

Im suprised because that area I was looking in (where my father is) has ridiculously high numbers of unemployment...maybe thats why somebody was willing to pay 10k for a 200k mile 06 TL though...

I got my TL in excellent condition at 104.5k miles with the timing belt changed for $13,800 when the KBB was $16,200 at a dealership price. Honestly $10,000 isn't bad for a dealership price. If it was private party, then in my opinion $10,000 would be high.
3G TL's are also in high demand in my area... My dealership almost never has one on the lot anymore. My salesman just told me a couple weeks ago when I showed up for an oil change that they can't even keep them on the lot for more than a week and they're gone.

get a carfax on it. i bought my black 06' TL w/navi 3months ago for $13k and it had 126k miles on it but the car was in great shape inside and out. carfax will show you how many owners it had and some of the maintenance that was done to it. mine was a one owner and he used it as a company car.

Friend of mine found an 06 with 108K for 13k. After he picked it up, he got it for 13k with new tires and the 105k service. Just some ideas.

2004 Acura TL
I just checked out the Acura dealership in Charlotte NC, they're asking prices are higher than what they are here in NJ. I would try expanding your search area

I've found a 06 Acura TL with Navigation for 10,990 with 93k miles on it. Interior looks about as good as the one in the photo, has tan interior, is burgundy/red ish. It is private party and the KBB with mileage factored in is 14.4k. What do you guys think of that deal? Does these TL's have any major problems like I think I was reading some people were running into transmission problems.
Obvious things I am going to have my dad look for:
Scratches and such
Noises and rough shifts
Tread left on tires/tire quality
Fact that 100k maintenance hasn't been done, even though guy is asking under KBB value
