Getting car tinted in the AM - groupon deal - need moleskin?

Is moleskin necessary - I recall reading posts about owners getting this done. My installer doesn't know what moleskin is but did say I should be good if I keep the seals clean. The tint deal is for 160 for 35% all around

I guess if it comes with a lifetime warranty, it doesn't matter if you do them or not. I have heard stories of people having no issues, and I have also heard about people having major issues. I got them installed just to be sure.

It's kind of scary that your installer doesn't know what they are, though.

How much does moleskin cost? Installer has been in business for 15 years and does business for lexus. Is providing full lifetime warranty

Usually 10-15 per sill, mine were 10 a sill also with the warranty. Make sure you know exactly what the warranty covers, scratching, bubbling, fading, etc.

Moleskin is cheap. You can buy your own roll and have enough for all 4 windows for less than $5. If you decide to install the moleskin yourself than you would have only spent less than $5 total.

Giving it to your installer to install in each window is what's going to cost you.

I SUGGEST you get moleskin installed yourself, or via your installer.

I didn't know about it when I got my windows tinted and about a month after I got it tinted I noticed there was light scratches on my drivers side and passenger side window.

Took it to get examined and he said $55/per window. THE FUCK? I asked him what if I supplied the felt? He still said price would be the same. Yeah, fuck that place. Never recommending anyone to them or going back there again.

I had a link to where you could go and buy the felt for cheap, but it seems like they are now out of stock and aren't gonna be selling it anymore. Another company is selling it, but won't show me any pricing until I sign up on their website.

http://empirepao.com/?page=moleskin

That was the original website I bought my moleskin from.

My car is getting tinted now. For the rear quarter windows - do you guys have the entire window tinted? It's tight back there because of the molding. These guys aren't removing any panels but said no light will shine through. They are essentially gettin it as close to the molding as possible.

everyone on here, well the majority of us, all have our rear quarter panel fully tinted.

it's been said before. if your tint installer doesn't know what moleskin is, or says it isn't possible to fully tint the edges of the rear quarter panel than you should take your car to a different installer.

good luck!
