OMG! I JUST changed my oil 2 hours ago and I was going to try it [as per a coworkers suggestion] ..but then opted for Mobil 1 FS! FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

ez12a 04-18-2011 06:52 PM

Sent this to my parents for my sister's civic. Interested to see if someone on this forum would put it in their TL.

26 dollar rebate covers 5 qts? Something's strange..unless that's what happens when we dont use dino oils.

If someone uses it, please report back! 26 for 5 qt isnt bad w/ or w/o rebate.

and it's "bio-degradeable".. does that mean it has a shelf life? what causes it to degrade? surely not heat..

I'm putting it in my civic soon. It sounds promotional. As in they're trying to gain awareness of the product. You get a free change and then keep buying it. Plus studies have shown that a lot of people buy things because of the rebate but never get around to sending in the rebate form.

Bio-degradable doesn't always mean that it is degraded by the environment. Bio degradable in this case means that because it is produced by natural means, as the oil breaks down (as all things do), it won't be (as) harmful to the environment.

Or, people send in the rebate form then forget all about it.

Just got an e-mail back from Green Earth:

HTHS is an impressive 3.5! (Compare to M1 0W40 and Redline 5w30, both 3.8).

So far, I'm pretty impressed with the specs of this oil along with the fact that it's a Grp V synthetic...

LoveMyTL-S 04-23-2011 12:22 PM

This is awesome! Thanks for sharing. It's what Acurazine is all about.

Maybe Ill give this a shot. I have a 3k mile round trip to take next month. I'd be interested in seeing a blackstone lab report before and after as well.

WTF!!

My coupon is only a $10 rebate coupon. That's fine I suppose, but someone promised me free oil.

:annoyed:

Champ, PM me for my paypal address. It'll be $16.48 (included paypal fees).

Edit - nevermind. I'm an idiot and chose the wrong rebate link.

$26 rebate needs to purchased by 4/30/11 and mailed by 5/31/11; $10 rebate is good all year.

m7r7m 04-24-2011 12:58 PM

Wow! Thanks Champ, I haven't heard anything about this oil but the lab results look amazing.

Ya I saw that. I want to see how the oil breaks down in our engines compared to mobil one amsoil redline and royal purple. Since engine blocks are all cast in different ways you may see different levels or materials in the oil between different engines.

LoveMyTL-S 04-28-2011 08:14 AM

Bought two 5qt jugs yesterday, each of different receipts so I can send in two rebates. The ends 4/30/2011, mail in by 5/31/2011.

ajs800 04-28-2011 08:24 AM

^^make sure the rebate certificate # is different for each rebate, or it won't work. They do a pretty good job at closing out each IP address.

How are you getting around the "one rebate per household/address" rule?

I hate cars 04-28-2011 10:43 PM

Looks like an average oil. Sounds like a good deal considering the price.

TheChamp531 04-28-2011 10:58 PM

^considering its free :x

Says its a grp V oil so

Where did it say that, I must've missed it. It has a low noack value, ok flashpoint. The add pack is what I was referring to. I would much rather see more zinc and phosphorus and moly in place of the calcium but then it wouldn't be able to get the SM rating. If it really is an ester and not a mix, that's one hell of a deal.

Majofo 04-29-2011 10:44 AM

Nice.. Thanks for the link Champ.

In regards to motor oil that's SAVING THE EARTH.. :pofl:

nfnsquared 04-29-2011 10:53 AM

I'll be running this next oil change (circa July) with a UOA to follow (circa Jan 2011). Would be nice if a few of us that try this oil would all run UOAs for comparison. I'll run it for my normal MID interval (about 7500 miles).

Anyone else going to join me with a UOA?

Yea, I saw that in the fine print and only sent in one rebate.

Majofo 04-29-2011 10:55 AM

I'm not sure if I'd run it on my regular OCI. Maybe 5k.

I have e-mail confirmation from GETG. It is Group V.

And the flashpoint is 223C, compared to 230C for M1 0W40.

The more you change it the more you're helping the earth. I say 1,000 mile intervals for everyone...

Well, scratch that thought. Our only WallyWorld doesn't carry it yet. Oh well...

TheChamp531 04-30-2011 01:42 AM

I bet you can find it online on WALLYWORLD ....com

nfnsquared 01-21-2012 02:40 AM

Not free anymore, but now only $10 if puchased by 1/31/12

Not quite as good a deal as the original, but not bad. $16 rebate on a $26 5 qt. jug:

KJ TL-S 01-21-2012 05:36 PM

This seems like a great deal to me. Anyone have any follow up to how the oil worked for them?

LIQUID0401 01-21-2012 06:19 PM

30% oil life left on my MID... Any TL's using this stuff yet?.. I might give it a try when my time comes.

There's not a whole lot to say about oil. I guess you could say the engine didn't blow up but what else is there to say?

Majofo 01-22-2012 10:45 AM

:bitelip:

LoveMyTL-S 01-23-2012 09:22 AM

I've now ran this oil in my 06 CR-V twice and have not notice anything bad about it. I put 10K miles between changes. Seems to be just like any other synthetic I've used (usually Mobile 1). I do use a Mobile 1 filter.
