i was just defending my car against the "wack design" comment, which is asinine.
i could afford a new M3 if i wanted, but i just bought another house instead. (call me crazy)
for the price (i paid just over 25K) throw in modability, reliability and AWD, the Legacy just can't be touched.
even w/ all the mods i had on my cl-s, the Legacy is much more fun to drive, and that was when it was bone stock (last week). now that i'm in stage 1 trim it's borderline ridiculous.
it handles like an AWD go-kart w/ a turbocharger.

... it is less luxurious than the TL or G35 though.
the only thing i miss from my CL-S (non navi) is the sunglass holder and steering wheel volume control. but for me there are way more pluses than minuses.

I'm totally OK with the LGT's style....that's not the hangup I have with it. (nice ride Matt. ) UGLY is the new Maxima OR Galant, the likes of which the Legacy cant be included.
That said give it Navi and the STi motor and I'll trade my 02 Maxima for it on the spot.

That LGT looks nice. I had one for a day as a demo that was red/tan. For some reason I couldn't get the look to grow on me enough to buy it over the TL, but it was close. I think if my wife would have liked it more, we would have gotten it, but she didn't like the hood scoop.
They said I could have it for $27,000, but I just couldn't do it for reasons I can't quite put my finger on. It's an awesome car and a real kick to drive. Enjoy it!
My TL isn't nearly as quick feeling to drive or spirited, but it's much more luxurious in feel which is what I really needed anyway since I have a balls-to-the-wall sports car already.

Well, it appears Subaru can match their bumpers to the body.... I guess you just have to pay less for that option on a vehicle now days.
Nothing wrong with the GT in my book. Just comes down to what you like, need, and want - etc. I know if I move from TX back north I will be looking into either the G sedan or Subaru for their AWD flavor (TL too if available then )

thanks for the comments guys.
it does have the STi motor (EJ25).
same bottom end, same heads. different intake manifold, turbo and ECU programming.
i just dropped a grand and this is what i ended up with. i'm making as much or more power than an STi right now.
you can definately feel that 60+wtq and 40+ whp.
my down pipe will be installed by the end of the month, then i will reflash to stage 1.5
once that is done, a stock STi won't stand a chance.

i test drove 2 legacy GTs.
manuals.
i thought the clutch action sucked.
both had a clutch shudder..
one was worse...
the dealer said i have 'learn to drive ' the clutch.
bull.
then i went to a bunch SUBIE forums..
many of them have this clutch shudder, judder problem.
took all the fun out of the car.

I think the sub is just plain ugly, the grill looks cheap and the rear end isn't pretty either. performance wise, the GT isn't that bad, so far the best 0 to 60 time i've seen is 5.66 sec. not bad at all.

That said, the one thing that speaks for itself is the numbers. 5.2 is a hell of a 0-60 rip, even beats the S4, yeat another reason for Audi to be ashamed. (VW, please stick to bugs.) This on a car whose competitors are not the TL or A6, but the A4 and TSX!
This along with 4x4 and a low entry fee could make this car a great winter beater...if you can find an aftermarket hood for it somewhere.

Dude, nice! 11.6 is damn fast. I think you'd probably edge me out in a drag race assuming I get a good launch. Without a good launch, you'd smoke me. I'm not much of a drag racer, but I've done road racing for years. It's too bad you don't live closer to Texas.
Here's my car all dressed up at the track. It's a freakin' blast.

Scott, that car is GORGEOUS you have good taste is color Here is a pic of mine (not the greatest pic, it could be cleaner).
I've always wanted to do road racing, I've gone to watch the Ferraris and Porsches at Pocono (North Course) before; it looked fun!!

legacy gt looka like a camry in the baq and profile....not too styleish IMO, also subaru has a serious problem w/ being the most ricy looking cars ever, w/ crazy wings and hoodscoups,(and this coming from an acura owner) those L7 boxer engines sound amazing, although if it weren't for the turbo they would automatically be considered DOWGZ, i love how when it comes to Mod talk the gt is so super but lets not forget which one is the N/A v6(tl g35) that holds it's own, i do think the gt is a hell of a performer but slap a turbo and awd on alot of 4cyl cars and they wouldn't do so bad either, as far as the enterior goes i like the gt's clean look, but the tl and g35 definatly are more classy and detailed on the inside and i would want an enterior that i wouldn't get sick of seeing and options to boot, on a different i have a friend who's dad is a retired racer(drag and off road) and he's crazy, and he is the owner of a lgt and two weeks ago we decided to have at it (i have a 02tl-s) so when i slept over once the next morning we hit the sawgrass expressway(and it was dead no cars at all) we decided on three runs two of which went up to 140mph 1st run from a dig he owned me by 4cars untill third when he stopped pulling up to 100,2nd run same except up to 140 this time, and guess what....i beat the old timer by half a car from 130 up, 3rd run from a 45 roll in 3rd gear up to 140 and hee only got me by a car the entire race..he was so mad i couldn't eat dinner at their house for a week but i was therowly unimpressed. but i lost so thumbs up to the old timer

I have driven the Legacy GT, the Altima SE-R, Grand Prix GXP, Charger R/T and just yesterday the TL 6mt. Prior to the TL yeaterday my favorite was the Legacy
GT while my wife likes the Nissan. The Legacy really is a blast to drive with the turbo/awd platform. I think that Subaru has done a good job with the turbo lag. The power delivery is smooth and as close to instant as any thing I have driven.
The TL also has very good power that also come on very quickly but, with the torque steer that is inherent with FWD. I have driven FWD cars since about 1986 and I was impressed with the Acuras lack of torque steer as compared to some of the others I have driven. The biggest thing that dropped the Subaru in our rankings is the somewhat small interior, especially when it comes to head and sholder room as compared to the Nissan and the TL. At this point it has come down to the Nissan and the TL. Both cars offer everything we are looking for and then some, but since my wife gets to choose the next new vehicle (a deal we made when I choose the last new vehicle) the Nissan is probably the front runner
at this time. She really liked the TL, but the Nissan is several thousand dollars cheaper. The one area she really liked about the TL was the interior, especially the gauges and the dash design. I am going to play that card for all its worth because I really want the TL.

Here are my thoughts:
Interior Quality: TL > Legacy > G35 - Subaru has greatly improved the quality of the interior, enough IMO to surpase the G, but still lacks the features and innovative design of the TL.
Exterior Styling: TL > G35 > Legacy - I believe the TL has the nicest exterior design of the three. It rivals that of BMW and bests the G's egg shape and the Legacy's bland styling, and not to mention frameless doors.
Performance: G35 > TL > Legacy - G35 hands down has the better performance, especially the '05 w/ MT and 298hp. The TL out performs the Legacy in a variety of ways. The Legacy has turbo lag off the line and didn't really impress me much with its acceleration. On the other hand, the TL accelerates quickly, and really takes off after the 4700 rpm mark. In addition, the handling of the TL, even w/o A-Spec suspension, feels firmer than that of the Legacy.
Modifying: Legacy > G35 > TL - It's obvious the the Legacy will be easier to Mod than the TL or G, with a chip alone the 2.5 turbo could get pretty sick. The G has a bunch of parts from Nismo and the 350Z that can be swapped. Currently there aren't that many aftermarket parts for the TL, but that will soon change.
Lastly, I wouldn't justify buying a $25K+ car on it's modifying potential alone. Other factors should be resale, and quality of the product, which Acura and Nissan both have over Subaru, which I've read may be changing, but we'll have to wait and see.
Cheers!

Infiniti and acura > subaru. If i were to choose, id get the TL or G35....leaning more toward the g35. I've just witnessed so many horror stories with subaru's. Also, they arent really in the same class of cars. The TL and G35 are luxury sport sedans and the legacy is just a good performer.

The Legacy is not as good performer as the G35. It should be G35 > Scooby > TL
