G35 vs Maxima Part 2 (Vid)

Friendly race. 08 max w I/E ,60 - 110. I had an extra 200lb passenger because we knew I would win. At one point, I let him put ~4 cars on me before I gunned it and passed him.

So you had an EXTRA passenger? Meaning 2 passengers for a total of 3 people in the car? And pulled the Maxima by 4-5 cars from 70-110? No offense man, but this doesn't make any sense unless you are running nitrous. Your car stock is at best a 98mph car, which is pretty similar to the new Maxima. You're both lightly modded, but you have more weight in your car, and you're pulling him as if you have another 100whp. Doesn't add up.

No nitrous lol I ran 5 different Maximas, 3 diff gens and 4 diff drivers, all the same outcome. And everything is on video. Would anyone like to run? Maybe we can check my car and see if there's pixie dust in the engine bay lmfao All i can say is my 1st, 2nd and 3rd gears are very strong. Thats pretty much it.

I bet its because of the cvt...i got to drive a 2011 maxima the other day and wasn't impressed. my tl-s feels much more responsive and faster. with a cvt you dont get the instant acceleration by holding a lower gear, even in manual mode. although i will say the rest of the car was very impressive, even the rear had bucket-like seats

Yes the CVTs aren't great but the rest of the car is awesome. I also had another interesting race...I pulled ~2 cars on a 535i from 40-~90. Vid soon

^ This. I've been a lurker on here for awhile since my fiance used to have an '03 TL-S (trans problems galore) and I've seen a few of these vids and they don't add up.

I own an 08 Altima 3.5SE CVT, and have run many 1st gen G35 coupes and sedans 5AT (they're all over Chicago) and we're always neck and neck. Something definately isn't adding up. Not to mention the stock for stock, the VQ in the 07+ Altimas & 09+ Maximas are revised with a much better top end/power curve than the older VQ in the 1st gen G. As an owner of the newer gen VQ and someone who's run many 1st gen Gs, I don't buy for one sec that your G pulls like that with the mods you have. In addition, 50-80 on the CVT seems to be the sweet spot and is faster than the 5AT G. Anything beyond 90 though and the CVT falls on it's face (which is a shame because the 6MTs on the 07+ Altimas have GREAT top end).

Maybe you do have a factory freak, but I highly doubt it. With what you're claiming, you should be out running 6MT VQ35HR 350z's and be able to hang with the 370z crowd....those cars pull on my Altima like that.

^ Point well taken. My car is right behind a lightly modded 6MT G35 in terms of speed. I've run one and lost by literally half a car to the top of 3rd gear. I also raced a G37x coupe and got him by a car or more off a 60 roll to ~90. When it comes to the CVTs, I've raced both an 08 and 10 maximas from a 70 roll. I walked away from both similar to how I did in the video. I can't say anything about the new altimas but I did pull an SER pretty bad back when I was stock; the dude was shocked. Maybe it's driver error, who knows.

It's would've been great! I'm actually gonna race an 05 RX-8 6MT w intake. Any thoughts on the outcome? All I know is that they have rotary engines. That's all.

RX-8's can't get out of their own way. My lawn mower has more torque. (And it's just a Craftsman push model)
