Thanks for putting together the DIY. I've been meaning to do it for awhile now, but you ended up doing a much better job than I could have done.
A couple of things to note.
Before putting the two pieces back together, I used small pieces of 200 grit sandpaper and sanded the cut edges by hand. You have to be careful not to scratch any of the clear lens though. Also try to make everything as clean as possible before putting it back together.
For mixing and applying the epoxy, I found pen caps to work very nicely. After I let the epoxy set, I masked the outer lens with tape and put some black window silicon over the epoxy. I don't know if it was necessary, but I did it for added protection.
If anybody has questions about mine and the smoking of the inside pieces, let me know. I'm still gonna post some better pics with night shots. Great job JAZEUSTL05, looking forward to your pics.

TL-773 Has a good point here, cleaning up the edges is a must before glue is applied. Sanding the plastic is also a good idea for better adhesian of the glue; althogh i didn't do this it is recommended by LOCKTITE (epoxy). The sealant may be a little over kill, the epoxy should give a water tight seal, but mine indoors, time will tell, maybe tonight.
Big Thanks to TL-733 for being the first to do the Tail Ligth Mod; true indeed it was what got my ass moving........I had the TL-S lights for a long time deciding whether or not to try it.
PS i look foward to other tail light mods the possibilties are endless maybe somone will leave the red reflector in and clear the other three out of four areas outline with crome trim. Or as TL-733 did tint different portions.
sorry for daydreaming........cant wait to get home if the weaTHER HOLDS PIX @ APROX 10PM

JAZEUSTL05...the type-s lights and the regular tails were cut exactly in the same way with the dremel?? Looks like about an inch in from the lens. Am I right?
Also, does your new tails use the black chrome from the type-s tails or the shiny chrome from the regular tails?

The only problem i had mounting them was that the glue on the upper / inner corner prevented the light from being flush....To take care of this i used heavyduty tin snips and cut about 1/8" off the sheet metal tab comming off the frame of the car. This is the corner im talking about:
Also this is my door light mod:
I ordered this led light bar from superbrightleds.... using a cut in half blub i soldered the jumper to the filliment supports then sealed it with epoxy and electrical tape. Before mounting you have to find which way the socket has to be plugged in to light (only 2 possibilities) then use double sided tape to mount the led bar.
I have some left over peaces from my modded lights, i also ended up buying a second set of TL-S Lights because i droped one after cutting apart. This means I have one brand new TL-S Left light in the box and all the peaces in the picture below to get rid of. Im asking 90 bucks for every thing, if interested you have to meet me with cash in nyc area.

dude.
this is by the far the hottest and most creative taillight setup i have yet to see. It even beats the concept TL's taillights they debuted back in 2003. kudos to you for a fantastic job. and the silver. probably the best color for the clear lights.
btw where in NY are you? would love to see it in person some time

Bad news
Looks like TL-733 was right about using extra sealer.... The left light has water in the bottom of it......I do have an extra left tl-s light so im not worried.....The left one's dremel cuts were not as good as the right tail light in the pictuires. Bigger gaps = more areas for leaks. Only thing that sucks is that im going to florida in a couple of days and it will have to wait.

overtime was canceled so i took off the leaking tail ligth used the extra one i had and made a new one sprayed the hose on the car for a half hour no leaks just the hottness.
i really did not like the idea of just bending the bummper down enuff to get the tail light out but it was alot less work ...... i recommend removeing the bolts under the trunk hood cover by plastic inserts then removing the srews inside the wheel well. with a little cohersion you can get it done in half the time.

thats f-in beautiful.
i'd love to do this mod with a slight change. i'd keep the reflector red to keep it legal and maybe use a red led for the blinker.
i think that would complete the whole look while keeping it 100% legal.

My comments:
I love the way this mod looks on your color. It's nothing short of fantastic.
For my personal taste, I think a redder flasher bulb would look better, as the match seems to be kind of off from the brake lights.
Oh and I like the way the white side markers look on the tail end. I haven't seen that before, and even I, lover of white lights, wasn't ballsy enough to put white on the rear of my car. That's big-time cop magnet where I'm from. But I LOVE the look!

If you want to keep the red reflector and clear the the brake light windows that as easy as poping the clear reflector out and poping the red one in on the bigger hole peace i was thinking of doing this myself but could not resist the all clear......................I just got the red led towers and resistors in the mail going to hook the up asap.
Day time pics will be here soon ...sorry too busy .....Flordia watch out!

I was checking this out and really, seriously contemplating doing this look to complement Stella (my 06 NBP TL).
I only have one issue. Will this rust over time guys? And if so, is there anything I can do to prevent it? See pic below for what I am talking about:
I'm trying to avoid having my baby look like one of those old Honda Accord rustbuckets!! Any insight on this would be greatly appreciated!

awsome.............what color car do you have.............those have the all clear parts from the 04-06 lights (mine had the clear 04-06 windows with the smoked crome trim from the 07 tl-s lights)................very nice version ......no they are not legal but nisther are mine (rear of the car must have red reflectors) (look at the new lexus suv for example) i have not been pulled over yet in the nyc area with two weeks of driving (while in florda family memeber drove it) and i have led white rear turm signal towers. but keep in mind, if driving with any other reason to get in trouble ie. drunk or doing somethign illegal you are asking to get caught.

taking the lower reflector that is clear and replacing it with a red reflector is quite easy and would make them legal. the tl-s lights have this red reflector. i opted to keep it the clear 05 reflector . if you need a red reflector i have them left over, just pm me.

06WDPTL was going to make these as a vendor, then he realized how difficult of a chore it was. I was his first customer, but he never got passed the 1st tail. This is what happens when you replace the clear lens of the 2007 series tals with the red lens of the 04/06 tails. It's all chrome/clear underneath.
There is also some question as to the legality of said mod by not having ANY red in the rear lens.
