infamous/gerzand can you please post exactly what we need to do to make the sidemarker switchbacks work like the videos posted? and how to make them in sync with the headlight switchbacks as well?
thanks
thanks

And when the parking lights are already on, node 30 is on and supplying current to the 87a because its normally a closed circuit in its unswitched state. And to make it blink, all you have to do is hit the blinker switch in the cabin..
But even then I'm trying to figure out why the amber light doesnt come on simultaneously with the amber light on the front. Because when the blinker circuit is energized, & since he used the diodes, regardless if the parking lights are on or not, node 85 should beome energized and thus making the relay output change from 87a to 87. So the yellow should come on all at the same time. but again, I dont know how the lights are wired up. From the pictures, it looks rather hairy. Instead of all the layered LEDS, it seems like one wire from 87 shoudl make them turn on. But someone said the wire light is an automatic failover? or defaultly lit up? So I dunno about the lights themselves. Just looking at the relay schematic is all.

Oh I see why he used the diodes. Because when the parking lights were not on, then the blinker wouldnt flash. So he connected 85 to 30 with the diode, and therefore supplying voltage to node 30 which is the node that actually supplies the current to the light.

Im glad youve seen the light but I'm sorry if you still cant understand some small technical aspect thats been posted. If you want to do this, build it. If not, don't. I understand that a forum is a place to ask questions/advice and to talk intellectually...but all of this discussion was truly unnecessary in the first place if you would have actually built the circuit, youd see it worked.
Have a good day man. The horse has already been beaten to death.

Oh have a good day man! haha you can always tell when people really mean that in an asshole way. But anyway, ya I looked at that video again, I think the amber actually IS flashing simultaneously. Thats a mind trip. It looks like its sorta reversed. But you know what? GERZAND you can kiss my ass if you cant handle a little questioning.

are you still offering to make the relays (for TL05)? I believe the relay is bad on my current and before I go through the work I want to have all the parts together. I like the idea of adding safety by using the side marker lights as additional blinker.

I finally got around to installing my relays on Sunday. Everything works perfectly. Of course I don't have the switchbacks as sidemarkers though but they blink like they should.
FYI: on a type s the wire you tap at the front signal harness is different on both sides. Meaning the wire you tap on the drivers side is red w/ a blue stripe, and on the pass side the wire you tap is white w/ a red stripe on it. I don't know if this differs from the base tl's.

Funny, I remember reading this thread back in January of 09 when I first got the car and thought "wow...this is too complicated for me"...now I read it and think, I can knock this out tomorrow in a couple of hours...install is actually the least of my worries, building it will be the most difficult.
I actually don't want switchbacks, ever since I VHT'd my amber diffusers, you really mostly see them from the front when I signal, and not the side...I think this will put my mind at ease as far as safety goes. T
THanks again GERZAND, youdaman...

One thing with mine is that they do not illuminate (white) until after I start the car. They shine very dimly, if at all before then. I figure they just aren't getting the correct voltage until the car is running.

GERZAND, you are the man...was cursing myself for a bit...but then realized I'm a moron and my ADD must have kicked in while soldering in the diodes...got 1 of them backward as shown in pic. I was freaking out because sidemarker blinked, but would not light up with the lights and would not blink with the lights...
Lucky it was an easy fix.

you probably could go with a flathead but I wouldn't recommend that method!
Take off your wheel, take off the screws at the rear of the fender liner and all the fasteners to access sidemarker AND the turn signal bulb wires.
PS...a soldering gun kit is about 10 bucks at Radio shack, don't get overwhelmed by the details...this is VERY doable. Just buy the stuff, study the image and take your time. Easy.

Ok i might have missed this somewhere in the thread. Would it be possible to do this with the rear sidemarkers as well? I am electrically challenged and would be interested in paying someone to put the sidemarkers together for me.

Made up the relays tonight, gonna install in the morning. The only change I made from the OP was that I sealed the relays in using heat shrink and hot glue for the ends. I could leave it under water overnight and not have a drop get inside.

Looks pretty intense but I can definitely appreciate the amount of thought, skill and work you put into it. I'm into a little more subtle but then again, the reason I did this mod was because after modding my headlights, you can't see my front turn signal from the side of the car very much.
