Fuel Injectors question

Is the fuel injector (by either STP or other brand) bad for our TL? I've heard different opinions on them... some say it's a good idea to put them in once in awhile but others say it could do more harm than good by adding them into your gas tank..

anybody know?

The Chevron Techron Fuel System Cleaner (there are different ones from Chevron), from everything I have read and seen, is the best... There is a coupon in the PepBoys MADD calender to get one for free BTW. I've stocked up on them and have at least 5 or so lying around. I plan on using it every 5000 miles or so. Using it will NOT in any way harm you engine, and with the use of quality gas, will keep your car guts nice and shiny clean.

OH... And be sure to put it in BEFORE filling up so it mixes in your tank nice and well... For my past cars and the wifes company car, I have used to STP "stuff" and found no ill effects... HOWEVER, like I said, from my research the Chevron appears to be top notch and the TL will only get that...

This is what I use and I also got one free from Pep Boyz.

I put in enough for one tank every 10k miles.

I usually use NOS Street Formula($5) injector cleaner every 6k-10K miles.
It increases Octane as much as 3 points (supposedly)
I think the Racing Formula($9) increases it 7 points, but its a little on the expensive side.
I also used these in my '03 TL-S for 2 1/2 years w/o any effects.

Using Techron every 5 or 10k miles is very helpful in keeping the injectors clean. Be sure to get Techron, and not the ProGard stuff, and in the 20 oz bottle for our 17+ gallon tanks. If you are already using premium fuel of at least 91 octane, octane enhancers are a gross waste of money.

Actually most car manufacturers recommend against using any additives. Evidently the combination of improved technology and computer controls, as well as improved fuels makes the additives useless and potentially harmful. They are most useful as a profit center, and I prefer not to participate.

Additionally, my mechanic says he just never sees the gummed up intakes and valves the way he did in the 60's and 70's.
