Front end noise when turning the wheel
My son has a 2006 TL with 105k miles on it, auto trans. Last week it developed a noise that I will do my best to describe hoping to get some direction on what it is instead of guesswork. The noise sounds like a moaning sound, almost like a power steering whine when he backs the car up and turns the wheel slightly to the right. When going straight there is no noise. When driving forward, the groan sounds more like a grind, but again only when he turns the wheel ever so slightly to the right. with or without pressing brakes makes no difference. Turning the wheel obviously applies some pressure on something in the front suspension which is causing this noise to happen. Hoping this is a common noise others have come across and know the failed component. I jacked up the front and did a visual inspection and could find/see nothing wrong. Spinning the wheel by hand made no noise. My son is at school with the car and will probably be a few wees before he is home with it again. My first thought was wheel bearing but also wondering about CV joint? In most cases I have seen, a failed/failing CV joint makes a clicking noise, this is more of a grind at speed (almost like when break pads are shot), but brakes look fine. Appreciate any insight.

check your power steering fluid

Thanks, I will check that. Also came across some threads and YT videos regarding the common PS o-ring failure. This may be it, sent mu son a video link to watch and see how closely it matches. If so, simple fix.
