Front Cupholders
Annoying here and maybe its me but..
When I pull a coffee cup from the cupholder by the cap - I end up pulling the cap off thus spilling the coffee. I know the cup should be snug , but how do you get the cup out without spilling?

I agree I have spilled 2 full large cokes in my civic due to the inability of the cup holders to hold the cup in them. This will not happen in the TL I promise.

aahh another reason not to drink coffee. somedays I think it is the opium of the 21 century. Just Kidding, I never developed a taste for it and gave up caffiene after my 1st year of med school because I didn't like going into V-tach at 2 in the morning while studying and pounding mountain dew . I find that 20 oz cups are easier to get out because you can grab the side wall instead of the top. Never really had a problem with nantucket nectar bottles either (I'm currently addicted to the pomegrant pear flavor)

Anyways, the design of the cupholders, good and bad, has been discussed in full for a while now. Most were happy with the design because it is in a convienet and safe place as well as its ability to actually hold cups. Many said their previous cars had cup holders right above the radio with which a simple jolt would send it flying, damaging the radio and surrounding areas. The shallow and deep design of the TL was made so that its easier for both the passenger and driver to get the cup with ease and without the lids of the cups touching as that could cause problems such as spilling. In any case, the grip it has on the cup is definetly a plus considering that many cup holders that dont actually "hold" up to its name. If you cant grip the cups, then you probably have small hands. And you know what they say about people with small hands . TL's cupholders are good, just get bigger hands as well as...

An easy fix is not eating or drinking in the car. The only thing I have ever allowed in any of my cars is water. Kids included - water or nothing. In my wife's Odyssey, I try and enforce the same but, it's not my daily driver and I just have to clean it on the weekends.

good stuff guys thanks. I have to say this is an awesome community of users. By the way (OT) per advice in here, I upgraded to Michelin Pilot Sport. Wow what a diff!

I like the cupholders....just have to watch the size cups you put in. There will never be something that everyone likes...it's just human nature to complain about something.....everyone doesn't have the same taste or requirements.

For us 12-oz. can types, it's pretty slick. I like being able to cover up the drink holes when not in use.
One downside - it needs to be 1/2" deeper, so a 12-oz. can could be covered up when empty but not yet thrown out!

Sorry about the empty space above. Not sure what happened. The thrill of the cupholder discussion made me dizzy I guess. BTW I went and got a nice 16oz. stainless steel thermal mug for my morning drive coffee. The TL held it in a death grip for about a week but has now loosened up nicely to a very useable level of grip. This may be my favorite TL design feature - after the tires that is.
