Front bumper paint fix

I just got a call from Acura of Pleasanton. They say Acura has a fix for the paint peeling problem people are having on their front bumper. They are going to replace the entire front bumper. Wow! The service tech said the fix should be official in a couple of weeks, at which time, he'll call back and set up an appointment. Good news and if Acura does follow through.

Hmmm, I thought someone would think this is good news. Or is it old news?

They already repainted my front bumper for this problem. Also had the passanger door repainted because it was a shade off from the rest of the car. Asked them to give me a body kit for "diminished value" and they did.

Ah, I see. My jaw nearly dropped when they told me Acura was going to replace my bumper with a whole new bumper. Glad I didn't get the invisible bra.

This was the first thing that I noticed when I saw the silver TL. And you know what? I saw two 2005 TL (both silver) at a dealer and it still wasn't fixed.
I guess it's more noticeable on silver.

They tried this fix on my car... Didn't work. If they quote you 2 weeks for TSB it will be more like 2 months and thats a big maybe.

Well, I wasn't making a big deal out of it. I mentioned the paint problem, which was very minor, during my first service so that it was documented in case it got worse. I wasn't expecting ANY fix to be honest.

I have paint peeling that I just noticed today but it's on the hood. It's on the driver side where the aluminum grill and the hood meet. I will take a pic. It’s very hard to notice but I am very anal when it comes to my car.

I have an '05, so is this going to effect me? anyway.. it's nice that Acura will own up to this problem and fix it free of cost, the same thing happened with the new 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipses, my roomate bought his brand new. Mitsu forgot to add some kind of paint hardener so the paint was super brittle and it was flaking off all over the car. Mitsu told my friend they were rock chips and he should stop driving so fast.. except that some of those chips were on his door, spoiler and roof. hmm.

Near the edge where it meets the side lights.

Did you tell the service techs? Actually, I'm quite surprised the dealer changed the bumper with really no hassle. I mentioned the paint problem to them when I took the car in for my first service because I wanted it documented as a problem in case the paint peeling worsened. I didn't even expect them to do anything about it unless it got worse.

Did they mention whether there was a TSB or anything associated with this?
