Freakin' Chipped Paint

Hey All,

New to the list, just got my TL 2004, Anthracite, non-navi last month and some stooge went and chipped a nice little area on my rear bumper. I saw the paint touch up at http://www.handa-accessories.com/tl.html, but I haven't seen anything elsewhere?

Anyone suggest a good paint touch up for the Anthracite TL?

p.s. I want to fix this BEFORE i do the zanio

Peace!

touch up paint is crap. bought 3 sets of them. totally blows. It clumps and the clearcoat gets everywhere and sticks out. Take it to a body shop IF/When you get another chip in your bumper. If your hardcore Anal, I suppose they could fix it right now but it may cost a few presidents.

I say stick with the touch up paint, it doesn't look great but it does serve its purposes. Unfortunately the newer water based paint don't with stand flying rock the way oil based paint used to do. You're going to get chip sooner or later.

The touchup paint works great (for me), but, only for very small chips - like you find from a stone on the front bumper. For any area larger than 1/16--1/8" - go to a body shop. Touch up will never look like a spray job due to particle size - touch up will always look like a glob - best to fill very small, chipped areas, but, nothing else (imho). Btw, is the front bumper particularly soft? I have had to touchup 2 small dings already and I didn't even know they happened.

Welcome to the forum, and may you have many years of enjoyment with your new TL.

Unfortunately, touch-up paint is a compromise. It is good for touching up those little chips or nicks that are not bad enough for a paint job, but where you still need to protect the paint.

Many people have reported good results with the paint sticks, and say they like them better than the liquid touch-up paint. I got some of the regular liquid from the dealer, for under $4, but it is for emergency or minor use only.

I had a skip across my left fender from a trunk and was able to repair with wet sanding and alot of patience and time. Unless I was at my last resort I wouldn't get it repainted due to the fact I have heard alot of people complaining that the paint doesn't match even done by the Acura dealer!
