I didn't want to say before but the guy who makes our parts is the same guy who makes this stuff:

Blast, you beat me to it!!

I have an A-Spec lip and you're sending me an exhaust really soon. Just throw it in the box, I will have it professionally installed and report back with many photos.

There may be some bubbles or fish eyes in them. They won't necessarily have a perfectly flat surface finish. They will probably turn yellow a few months after having them on. If you think they can be made cheaper than this...be my guest. You've seen how many people want them. Get your buddy on it.

For $229, there are no disclaimers. They fit and look perfect right out of the box and will look good for years to come.
I'm sure that you know the answer is the $229 part for $150.

In all seriousness, though, it's simple economics: you make a product (or purchase it wholesale) and price into it costs and a marginal profit. Whether or not it sells depends on the perception of high value-for-money. Clearly, your customer base doesn't perceive that. That's not a knock on you, the manufacturer or even your customers - it's just a fact-based observation.

You really have three choices, here:
  1. Increase purchase/production volumes to drive the wholesale price down.
  2. Decrease your profit margin.
  3. Improve your communication of the value proposition to your customers.
My personal take of the value proposition of this item is that if the first number of the price was a 1, I'd probably buy it. No science or math behind that: just irrational gut feeling. Which is likely where most customers are coming from.

Now if you're will to make it worth my while, as above, I will eat the labour cost to install this (my OEM exhaust will be off anyway to install my brand spanking new ATLP exhaust) and report back.

The Type-S Rear A-Spec Lip is all one piece, trust me I bought one from Ack and had to get it painted AM. It covers over the cutouts on the regular bumper. The hole in the center peeps through to the mesh on the bumper too.
