Driving home yesterday from Dulles airport after an extended Labor day holiday, I noticed the my A1 sevice is due. The oil life reading is >15% with 6000 miles.

Today my wife is taking the car on an overnight trip with friends to Skyline Drive, Charlottesville about 300-400 miles max.

QUESTION: Should I have the oil changed before the trip, or would it be ok to change when she returns?

Thanks.

You can get it done when she returns. Your MID reads the same as mine did at that mileage, and I did mine at 6,500 with 10% showing on the MID.

Ron A Thanks. That big orange wrench in the MID had me worried. I've been compulsive about the car and don't want to lessen the engine's future performance.

FWIW, I had < 20% oil life left when I went on a 1000 mile weekend road trip. By the time I got back, I had < 5% and the "Service Due Soon" had changed to "Service Due Now."

Even a 400 mile trip should be fine.
