First Dyno day - how did I do?
Some of us MN guys all got together for a dyno day. I can't say I'm going to be bragging to anyone - but wondering what you all think.
215.21 hp - 198.17 tq
Only thing I've done is a typhoon K&N CIA.
<mods - not that you need my permission - but you can move this if it's in the wrong spot>
p.s. - I'm on my way out the door now, but I'll post the sheet later

Hmmm...I think your numbers are a bit low. The torque is low, but especially the hp. However, I guess it's a bit of a crapshoot with dyno's, depending on what type of dyno you pulled on, and how long it's been since it's been calibrated? It's nice to have your car dyno'd, though. Not many do it.

maybe im just a noob but i dont understand how it can be 215 HP if the car comes with 270'ish and u also added an intake.. eh wutever.. if someone would like to explain.. thanks

actually listed SAE corrected HP is 258. What type of machine was used? What was the air temp? Humidity levels? Did you run with VSA on? Alot of variables...
I really think that dynos are a false measure, I prefer track times instead, but thats just me

That's 258hp to the crank, much lower to the wheels.

^^
That seems to be the conventional wisdom - somewhere between 15% and 20% loss from the crank to the wheels.

seems like pretty accurate numbers for an auto
6speed numbers with an intake I've seen were 230/210
my auto type s dyno'd at 248/220 (with plenty of mods)

Honestly then - I'm pretty happy.
Here are all of the numbers for the 3 runs.
Tq 194.53 Hp 211.51
Tq 198.17 Hp 215.21
Tq 192.31 Hp 213.28
and son of a bitch. They didn't give me the temp, humidity, and they 3rd number on my printout. Oh well. Sorry - I'm drunk now so I dont care - but I would have if I would have thought about it then.
As for numbers - I was ?kind of? disappointed because they used auto in 3rd gear, but did not find it necessary to use sport shift to lock it into the gear.
THis is totally a noob question from someone that know nothing - but why would it not be easier to use sportshift nad keep it in 3rd for the dyno, than to use auto and try to lock the gear into 3rd without it kicking down?

um yea... don't go back to that place... they are "supposed" to use sport shift mode to reach the redline in 3rd... pretty certain they didn't hit the redline if they were not in ss mode... it shifts to 4th a good few hundred rpms before redline

like in many threads, dynos are a tool for measuring power increasing when tuning/modding
i pulled 227 whp 198tq with my 06 TL and i had intake, exhast, pulley , spacers, and pro-cats.... i was disappointed as hell, but i could have driven to a different dyno place and probably pulled 240+ ...
