FINALLY!! the fake lip spoiler

From handling the lip spoiler... it felt to weigh about 20lbs. Per the UPS statement, the total package weighed about 25lbs... so I'm assuming 5lbs went to packaging.
My Trunk: When I pop the trunk, the trunk lid will come up about one to two inches. That's perfectly fine for me, and I won't go investing in a new, tighter spring. The nice part is that when i close the trunk, however, the trunk closes easier w/ the added weight and I don't need to force it down so hard anymore.

Yeah, that seems a little cheap for OEM. Lowest internet price shipped is about 310 or so...

just checked my ups tracking and it lists the package as 20lbs, so give a couple pounds to packaging. i'm actually surprised it weighs that much. i was thinking nothing more than 10 pounds. it isn't that bulky of a piece.

ADVICE ON INSTALLATION:
1) first, of course, thorougly clean the surface of the trunk w/ Dove dishsoap in order to strip all the wax from the clear coat. Make sure it is thoroughly dry before doing anything else
2) Place the spoiler (without removing the adhesive backing) on the trunk lid, and with a dry-erase pen, mark out where the spoiler should lie. Mark all around the spoiler so you have an exact idea of where it should go.
3) RECRUIT A FRIEND TO HELP FOR THE FINAL STEP!!! MISSION CRITICAL!!
4) have your buddy hold up one end (adhesive backing totally removed) while you position the first side of the spoiler onto the trunk lid.
5) Next, slowly position the second side of the spoiler onto the trunk lid.
6) Both of you now apply equal pressure to the entire length of the spoiler to ensure that all adhesive surfaces met with the trunk lid.
7) Allow to set for about 2 to 3 hours before exposing it to the elements (rain, snow, extreme cold). Heat is good, as it helps the adhesive set better. Do not apply to extremely cold surface. Use a blow dryer to heat up the surface prior to application.
8) Enjoy.

Canta,
That's a sweet deal. THough the initial purpose of this thread was designed for those who did not want the entire kit, or already had the entire kit and just wanted to get the spoiler, and for those who already tried their dealer and got ridiculous prices for the spoiler. Not to knock your deal, but I wish more dealers would offer what they offered you. Sadly, this isn't the case (go figure), and we have to seek much cheaper alternatives to the average price of $300.00. I think this alternative spoiler is a great compromise over the OEM one, especially since it's only $180 shipped.

i just got my package yesterday (didn't even open it yet), but there's no way it ways more than 10 pounds for the entire package. i'm installing it tomorrow and will actually put it on a scale and weigh the damn thing. my guess is 3 pounds tops.

lemme know if you have any issues w/ the install. Remember, within the first ten seconds of it being fully seated, you can still pry it off to re-adjust.. measure twice, install once.

I did a dry fitment yesterday and the two ends do not exactly meet the decklid. Will they stay down after I do the actual install with the tape? For those that ordered/installed this spoiler, was yours like this? Everything else seems fine.
Oh, in case anyone is interested, the spoier weighs 1lb and 14 oz.

I agree on the weight also. The return shipping weight of my completely packaged spoiler was only 2 lbs. 14 oz. I don't know why the box it came in has a shipping weight of 25lbs.

Just because someone spends 35K on the car, doesn't mean it's ok for them to waste any money if they feel that's what they are doing.
And we don't know how good or bad this fake spoiler is anyway. It could actually be better than the OEM one as far as quality.

Does anyone read this
I haven’t read this whole thread but how does the sticky tape on the spoiler withstand the elements? After a lot of rain storms does it still feel like it’s on for good? Just wondering if the water would loosen the tape?

I have been through several thunderstorms w/ this spoiler.. and temps b/w 40 deg. F and 80 deg. F and so far, the thing is rock solid. Its strength all depends on a good seating with the initial application. If you have good fittment, you're golden, and the only way that thing is coming off is if the paint comes off with it. It's solid.

I got my deck lip today from ron! The paint job done by ron is great!
The package listed the shipping weight is 20lb but it actually only weights 1lb! I guess it is because the odd size of the shipping box. *side note: UPS/Fedex charges the shipment by the formular Weight X dimension of the packaging X zone code.
My deck lip fits perfectly on the trunk! I didn't have the problem like BigBluu.
I tried very hard to clean up the surface before installing the deck lip. I have to use alcohol so many time before my layers of zaino coats would come off!
3 hrs later, I tested my TL on the highway @ 80 mph and deck lip is rock solid! 3M double side tape rocks!

The car looks good without nothing on it at all, but can anyone tell me if you wanted a spoiler on your car, why wouldn't you get a full size factory spoiler instead of the little lip spoiler.
