Fair Pricing
Recently I stumbled upon a 07 Type S in WDP. The car only has around 40k KMs but the owner is looking for 25k!
It does have a clean title and A-Spec kit so i guess that adds to the value but damn 25k for a 6 nearing 7 year old car?
I'm not too sure it worth it to shell out that kind of money

It's worth whatever someone will pay for it. Saying that, it does have low km's. I bought mine with 100,000 km for $16,500. I would say around $20,000 would be what I might pay for the low km

I agree somewhat with the OP. I was just screwing around the other day and looking at MT versions of the 3G & 4G and the prices were within 1000-1500 of each other with similar mileage. It's great that the 3G models are still holding up value wise for us owners not so much for those looking to get into one.

I even offered him 23,500 which i thought was reasonable for a car of that age. He refuses to move a penny.
For 25K why dont i just buy a 2010+ for around the same money?
Damn my love for the 3G styling.

That price is pretty steep for an 07. It just depends on how badly you want/need one. There are MUCH better deals out there, but you either have to be willing to travel or be extremely patient. Otherwise if both you and the seller feel thats a fair price then go for it.

I also think that price is a bit steep, If you can hold off there is always going to be a better deal out there somewhere.
^J-didn't you score the MRP in the neighborhood of 24k with less then 6k miles? Granted that is an exception, but there are better deals out there than what the OP posted.

Since I have no plans whatsoever to sell the new one I dont mind saying the price I paid. I actually paid $23K for that MRP 6mt Type S. It had 4,900 miles on it at the time of purchase last month.
As soon as I saw that thread someone made on this site I immediately jumped on it. I knew there will never be another one like it for sale. While others replied saying it was a scam, or he rolled back the odometer (however thats possible I dont even know lol), I was on the phone discussing things about the vehicle with the owner and making plans to purchase it. I am sooo glad I did, I absolutely love this car!! The only downside if there even is one is I am so anal with it right now and to be honest its kind of annoying lol. I find myself dusting it and quick detailing every single morning. Im weird when it comes to cars though and I tend to treat them like my first born lol.

also depends on where OP is located, he stated KMs so I'd assume in Canada, where our used car market is priced higher than the states.
I paid 25 for mine with 50k on it almost 2 years ago and thats when they were still going for 28+
Right now in my area a Type S is worth around 22 with around 80-100k on the clock

Here's an '08 Type S in Nova Scotia for $22,000. 6MT with 106,000 on it. It's a private sale so I'm sure they could be talked down.

these cars have become "whatever the buyer will pay". i bet he will get his asking price, but will take a while. A few months back I checked out a 08 base with 3300 miles and he was asking 16,700...dealer bought it and sold it for 23,500 in a week. Low milage means nothing to someone like me as I can get a 120k mile TYPE-S in good condition around here for 14k and for the 10k more you guys are paying i would get recaro seats/body kit/paint job/fully built engine and still be less than the 24/25 price tag people are paying..
or just buy a high mileage for 5-7k less and that can buy 2-3 engines incase something goes wrong. only way i would be excited over low mileage is if its competitively priced. Just my two cents, its nice and all but still a honda and a mass produced car so low mileage really doesn't make it a collector car, but a collector car to the owner. I would be more worried if they properly maintained the car rather than let it sit because sometimes a car that isn't drive often is harder/requires more attention to take care of...tire rot/oil change/etc.
The base tl I checked out was stored in a air tight, humid free air controlled wearhouse..literally could eat off the belt and all metal.
no offense to anyone but i don't see spending 7-10k more for something with low milage. i've seen cars have problems at 55k/40k/90k and sometimes cars that last up to 202k, even 300k..My buddies TL has 246,xxxk and still running strong.

^^^^I guess someone having obsess with having "new car smell" and that why they are willing to shell out that much money for a used car. For me $25k I would pick some thing else up beside the TL.

prefer low miles. Everyone has their own opinion on what they like/want and if its a almost perfect to showroom condition car you want, a 100,000 mile Type S will never be that. So I have no problems spending a little more and getting exactly what I want. And besides, I would still make sure the car I'm buying is an excellent deal. For example I wouldn't have bought my 5,000 mile Type S had it been 27K or whatever.

I did tell him my offer is set at 23.5K. In my mind that is a reasonable price for that car in my market.
If hes stuck on 25K then i'll keep looking. If he might consider it then ill get a carproof, inspection and stuff and see what my options are. Im in no rush to buy one, but am pretty set on the TL Type-S being the next car.

Hmm this gets more interesting now. The car is modded with an A-Spec Kit, Roof Spoiler, Window Visors, HID Fogs, and some 19" CE28's.
Does the value go up with mods or down?

When I'm looking for a used car I always look at completely stock vehicles. So to me mods not only lower the value, but they actually give it no value whatsoever because I wouldn't even buy it.
However, everyone is different so maybe roof spoilers and window visors (items that IMO degrade the look of the car), are things that you would put on the car anyway so it could be beneficial. With that said though, do not let the seller increase the value of the car because of those mods. If someone puts a $4,000 supercharger on a $20,000 car, that doesn't turn it into a $24,000 car. Hopefully this helps.

I do agree with James on the modding part, I would walk away if I saw debadge or painting grill and the next thing I look under the hood to make sure there isn't CAI or any mods under the hood. I wouldn't buy a modded car.

There is a dollar limit that sometimes becomes unacceptable to the buyer- plus, the TL isn't a collectors car (yet). Here's one that has been on the sales block for the past several years:
http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail...nal&listType=1
The dealership must be dreaming that they'll ever sell it for this much- it certainly won't insure for that price.
