a f**kin saturn vue?!
i was looking around wikipedia and i know on wikipedia you can write whatever you want. Hell if you feel like it u can make yourself the president of the united states. well like i was saying, i was looking around and reading a little, and i read ....The J35 was also used by General Motors in the 2004-2007 Saturn Vue... i was just like wow our high class cars are pretty much being compared to a saturn! i this true?

^^ Yup, sometimes it is cheaper for a manufacturer to buy parts off of other companies to be used in their own cars, joint ventures for the lack of better words. The "red line" Vue had the J35 in it AFAIK.

Hey my wife drives a Vue with J35. Damn thing runs as strong as my Acura. A few less HP, but it's a hella strong motor, and the only reason I went to buy one when she wanted a small SUV. She LOVES it. Makes oil changes real easy too, I use all the same crush washers, filters and oil.
Story goes that GM helped Honda figure out some torque convertor problems on 4-cylinder auto cars. In return they asked for the J35 engines to use in the Vue for so many years. I'm thrilled...got a really great SUV for a great price as a result.

LOL @ OP calling this a "high class" car. Please. High class is Bently, RR, Lambo, Ferrari, etc. High class would be considered a few hundred units or less per year or per model run. Get over yourself OP.

old news. Ain't nothing wrong with that. I don't see why people are so anal about...
Z O M G rebadged Acura, Z O M G Saturn has Honda J35.
ZOMG our cars are low class now buy something better.

Got that right. I never even think of comparing my wife's Vue to my TL-S. Completely different vehicles, they just happen to have the J35 in common.
On the other hand, there are things the Vue is actually the preferred vehicle between the two...TL is awesome for getting around in, for taking trips, for going out dressed up. The Vue is awesome for grocery fetching, for toting big boxes, for deep snow (yeah this thing's only FWD, and it gets around great in 6" of snow, something that makes me squirm in the TL.)
So yeah it IS Still a Vue. But fully loaded 06 it cost only $27K brand new...with a Honda 3.5 engine and tranny. Beat that. It was a GREAT value, and it's not a bad vehicle at all. Extremely reliable, good ride, lots of room and it averages around 27 MPG. No it's not an Acura, but there are many times I am glad it's not. And having that Honda engine makes it fantastic.
The tone of this thread indicates that this somehow demeans or devalues our TL's. Perhaps that's true, but I can't imagine how...after all, It's Still a Vue. I'm thrilled to own it, we love that thing.

hmmmm... 95oRANGEcRUSH I'm not trying to get into any arguments over the net, and if you might have read my info at the age of 17 Acura is as classy as it gets for me. But yea it was a little surprising to read, that's all and who knows it might be easier to tune for you guys with, and the process of going s/c.

yea well my definition of high class cars is anything over 80K$$ and under 200K$$... NOT based on the units built... simply because its called EXOTIC after that.

Also, I knew what he was comparing the Acura to and that's my point. Who compares an Acura to a Saturn? Apple meet orange. Orange meet apple. We're talking about 2 entirely different vehicles in 2 entirely different classes. Sport utiliity vs. luxury sport sedan. Jesus, some of you are about 1 step above a ricer.
Collaboration between auto makers is great. Who cares what companies share what parts? The end benefit is that the consumer wins (hopefully). Of course, some of you can't see that because you have a blind devotion to your brand. Enjoy your car for what it is. Notice, I own one, too.

This thread makes me laugh. Our cars are nothing more than a gussied up honda. Does that bother me? No and it shouldn't bother you. All this badge snobbery is really silly. It really is pointless because someone will always come after you with something bigger faster smaller lighter or whatever to trump you down the road. Just enjoy it for what it is instead of what its not or could be.

GM and Honda traded engines. Honda gave them the J35, GM gave Honda some diesel engines for their Euro Civics.

The rule of thumb seems once you get past the 25 age on this message board you get more rational posts... however, this is just a rule of thumb, and there are exceptions. I've seen irrational posts from 28 year olds, and gold from 17 year olds. However, that's just my view...

Look 2 posts above yours, numb nuts. Manufacturers collaborate and share ideas/parts all the time. If you think this car is "high class" that is your prerogative. Just don't go around acting like it, which is clearly how the OP came off. You just didn't notice the arrogance in his post because your head is equally as far up your own ass.

Back to the original topic, I remember when Honda inked the deal with GM and the agreement was that there would be NO label of Honda on the engine. Unless you were a gearhead and knew what you were looking at, you'd think it was a GM motor. Funny, I bet the VUE has some of the best reliability ratings for powertrain. I know when my parents went shopping for a new crossover, I told them the only domestic to even consider was the VUE with the V6. They said they saw a 4 cyl and I said heck NO!

some good info in this thread, some... its interresting that the guy i bought my tl from used was replacing it with vue. too bad gm didnt work up a awd drivetrain that could have had potential as a retrofit in a tl.

i dunno man i had a vue on the NYS thruway try to outrun me smashing his gas.....and me with a CEL thrown and not much throttle applied....dipped out of site. they are for sure a retarded version of the type s motor.....and no ladies not retarded like some of us on here....retarded as in restricted or slowed down to make it even easier

I would prefer it to have the J35 with a 6 speed GM transmission. I'm driving a rental Equinox which I believe is a shared platform with the Vue (not sure though). It has the old outdated pushrod 3.4L but there's something nice about the American motor's effortless acceleration for 90% of your daily driving activities. It doesn't rev to the moon or make nearly as much hp but the low end torque is nice.

But it's geared pretty low so it hops off the line. Would it hold up in a race VS my 3.5 TL-S? HELL NO. But for a grocery getter it's pretty hot. And my wife got it in ORANGE/Tan Leather. It's a pretty cool ride for a Saturn!

so what who cares it's a honda engine with a crappy honda auto trans but GM unlike honda will not most likely good will it.
