Extended Warrenty Question

My '04 TL is almost at 50k miles, and am looking at getting an extended warranty. I understand Acura offers a 48 month, 48k warranty and am wondering where I can get the best deal?

Anyone purchased an extended warranty or know a dealer offering good deals on it? (I'm in the MI area)

I have an 04 TL. 45K miles. I got 7 years 100K miles for $1330 at the dealership w a disappearing deductible. Meaning, if I get warranty service done at the dealership, I pay $0, but if it's at another location I pay $50. I bought the coverage like 2 weeks ago.

I looked at hondaacuraworld, and they didn't have a warranty available for my year. I looked at curryacura, and it quoted me $1380 for 7 years 92K miles with $0 deductible.

Originally my dealership quoted me $1820 for the same coverage but w/o the disappearing deductible. The extended warranty is the "platinum" warranty, which will cover the navi system and such.

I'm with ggesq, I'd check him out. I bought my new TL about 6 weeks ago. After doing some extensive comparison shopping, I couldn't find a dealership that could even come close to their price. I just sold my CL the other day, so with some of the proceeds I'm strongly considering purchasing the 5yr / 100k extended warranty with $100 deductible, for $760. Oh, Tim is very helpful via email if you have questions.

Regarding the need for the warranty - everyone has their opinions. I personally believe that nothing should go wrong before 100k miles. However, since my loan is over 5 years (even though I should have it paid off in 3.5 years based on what I'm paying over each month), I just feel more comfortable having the peace of mind that the $30k + purchase I'm paying off is covered against any costly repairs, ya know? (Oh and I put on about 18k miles a year, so I'll be out of warranty fairly quickly).

Nothing should go wrong, spark plugs last forever, cars run on wishes and starlight, and acura makes the best auto trans ever

Get the extended and hope for the best

Sure, my wife isn't ~supposed~ to crash the car-
but she did bring the last one home 2 feet shorter

When the credit union said- for an extra 5 bucks a month we will pay off the full loan amount if she totals this one~

Sold!

Hehe.. tha'ts my friend Michelle

The Acura Care Extended warranty booklet states what all is and is not covered; trim pieces and wear/tear items are not covered. Navigation systems, hands free link, engine/tranmission failures (unless they were abused or it's wear and tear) should be covered. I don't have the specifics on what is/not covered.

I got my extended warranty from Niello, and i'm glad I did because I don't want to fork over $2k if my Nav system dies in 20,000 miles!

I don't recall exactly what it was but $1300 - $1500 seems to be the average for the 100k

Got warranty work done on my av6 03 with 44k had the 100K extended powertrain when i called honda CSR # listed on the warranty card rep stt door lock actuator not covered. even went to GPhonda who quoted me 395 stating not covered under warranty. So i decided to go to Hondacarland all covered no charge at all. guess thru whom the honda extended warranty is from ? Zurich ins. Previously zurich used to be Universal . so long story short Zurich coverage not bad . I think i will go with Zurich for my TL too

When I got our car, the dealer said I had two options as far as warranty goes. You can either get a new car extended warranty up front..... Or.... He said you can wait till your car is almost out of the factory warranty, and then buy a "Used Car Extended Warranty". He said it covers the exact same thing the new car warranty does, except it is cheaper. (The Used car warranty is still through the manufacturer)

He said the main difference for the cost difference, was that the "New Car Extended Warranty" gives you a few perks while you are still under the original factory warranty, such as free tow service in case of car accidents, and loaners for non-warranty work.

I can't remember if it was the Infiniti dealer or Acura dealer that told me all this, but hopefully it is true for both.

Given a choice, I would always opt for the Manufacturer extended warranty. Admittedly, probably because of a bad taste in my mouth from past experiences...

The best part about a manufacturer extended warranty, vs other extended warranties, is service. The warranty is treated just like the original warranty, since it is facilitated by the manufacturer.

With extended warranties, often times not only does the dealer need to authorize the repair with the warranty company, they will not start repairs until they receive payment from the warranty company.

Even the dealer told me this, when we got our 3G TL. (I asked about the difference between Acura Care extended warranty, and the third party warranty the dealer sold us when we originally bought our 2G TL.)

I agree. I would take the path of least resistance on this one.

Hey guys i need some feed back like BIG TIME..

i have a 05 WDP non navi w/ 58k on it. It's a daily driver. i need a extended warranty for it since my extended warranty already expired when i hit 50k. i never got a letter or anything about it expiring or even an offer to renew it.

Now my car is going down hill right now. my transmission had to be replaced and i was over warranty but the dealership swapped it out for me for $0 as a good gesture or some shit.. when i got it back my climate control light on my driver side went out. then after another oil change i hear something like pop or a cracking sound everytime i accelerate or break. then after another oil change my radio has no sound coming from it.

now im shit out of luck.

everytime i take it to the dealer seems like somethin gis messing up when i get it back and they cant find the problem.

what should i do? and where can i get an extended warranty at for a good price?

at ball acura national city. they are pricing it at 48 months for $2300, 36 months for &1600.. i can tell this is a complete freaking rip off..

$1305 for 60 months, 84k mile AcuraCare Warranty

I spammed 8 SoCal dealers as well as CurryAcura and Bernardi was hands down the cheapest.

Talk to Tim McGilvray
http://bernardiwarranty.com

For those considering aftermarket/3rd Party extended warranties, here is some food for thought: I went into the dealership to get some work done under the original warranty the DAY AFTER I bought my AcuraCare coverage through Tim. The Service Adviser pulled up my car's record by the VIN and already was able to see that the extended warranty was added. It is under the "VSC" line, and is either a Y or N. Dealership sends the bill to Honda/Acura directly... seemless process.

Hello
I have bought an 2003 Acura 3.2 TL with 49.9k miles on it.
I wanted to buy an extended warranty on it..preferably from Acura/Honda.
I have contacted a few Acura dealers regarding it...some of them are of the opinion that they cannot give an extended warranty as both of the below conditions should be satisfied...
1. Mileage on the car should be less than 50k (which I satisfy) AND
2. car should be less than 4 years of purchase....(it was first bought on july 2002..so the company warranty expired in july 2007)

Now an Acura dealer is offering me an extended warranty from Zurich (instead of acura/honda)
I have never heard about Zurich. Please let me know if anybody has heard about it..any reviews?

Is it advisable to go for an extended warranty given the fact that its not goign to be from an Acura/Honda?
Anybody knows about reliability of Acura? an extended warranty needed or not?
if needed...would zurich serve the purpose?

Please advice
Thanks in advance

Hello all I have a used 05 NBP with Nav. with 73000 on it now. Nothing has been jacked up yet but, I don't have an extened warranty and I am looking for one do you all think that it is possible to get an extened warrenty with this amount of miles. And if so say I get a 100k mile warrenty it just means it goes to 100k not 173k right?

yes u can but it will cost u a lot more like 500-700 more because u have to get certified....and all that means is a jerk off looks at ur car and says "ok looks pretty" and stamps it on ur paper that the car is certified...only because you're out of the standard warranty mileage. but its worth it i plan on extending mine when i hit 100.
so when u add to ur car its 73k plus 48 k so u get protection to 121k i believe
