Engine knocking sound
Everytime I step on the gas from a stop I hear a knocking sound for about 1 second then when auto shifts to next gear I hear it again for the same amount of time. I have only used premium gas. I live 60 miles from the nearest dealer and wanted to ask before I made the journey. Has as anyone else had this happen? I only have 1300 miles..

That may not be engine... maybe tranny. I wouldn't push your luck and get stuck roadside, get to the dealer.
Try this... stand on the brake and put into low gear or "D"... slowly start to apply gas (basically powerbrake it). Then try it in neutral. Should give you a better idea if it's tranny or engine related.
Good luck.

Hi neighbor. I assume you are not flooring it and taking it to the redline when you hear the knocking. Do you hear the knock for the first one second after stepping on the gas?
If you are starting normally and letting the transmission do the shifting, a knocking sound is not normal.
This is a puzzler, which may account for the lack of replies to your question.
I don't think it is the engine itself which is knocking, but maybe a belt is loose or something else is loose and causing a rattle. It may be difficult to determine the exact source by yourself.
If it keeps doing this I would suggest a trip to the dealer. Sounds like you bought your in Mobile, from the 60 mile statement. I bought mine in Fort Walton Beach mainly because it is close to home and I would be 100 miles from Mobile.

Thanks for the reply's....I will try the brake and neutral idea. It could be the tranny...didn't think of that..Ron...hey neighbor...As soon as I step on the gas I hear the sound. If you start very slow and don't push much you don't hear it. Only does the sound when shifting from one gear to the next with a fair amount of push on the accelerator...
