ECU Chip or something?
Hey I went by my acura dealer today to check out if they had an A-spec package or if they could chrome my rims. Anywho, I was having a conversation w/ one the higher position emplyees here who said he had bought the exact same car I had for his wife about 3 months ago. he then claimed that he had something done to it when his friend who he said was a honda technician or something said that there was a chip for it out already. He then said that now his TL gets 303+HP or something w/ the limiter taken off. Is this possible or true? If so, where can we get these ECU chips or whatever? He said he smoked G35s and 350Zs w/ it off. I dont know if he was lying or not. I asked him for the web address from where he got it and he said he would get it to me next time I come in because he left it at home. Please reply w/ any info I would be intrested if this is true...

IMO, if you are at a dealership and conversing with one of it's employees about performance and/or aftermarket parts, you can be 99% certain that everything coming from their mouth is complete fvcking bullshit.
303hp with just a chip? on an engine with an already high CR of 11:1 ?!! not likely!! The stock TL ECU tuning is pretty much it... further ECU tuning may net another 10-15hp at most.
as for "smoking" G35's and 350Z's..... ha!
this guy is pure BS.

however I did research a little about this preformance chip and it actually is possible to get a 10-15HP gain from a new "flash" of the chip. However, no chip to my knowledge has been made, or even started i think. It may take a while but the TL was reported to have been doing 280HP before the ECU update or something, i dont know....Ill look more into this.

The most simplest way to get answer... since he/his wife own the car... they live together, right?

This is what I found....a post by jeff from vtec.net This is were you got the info from.
"I spoke with Doug at Hondata and he thinks there should be an easy 10-15hp with a simple flash. Supposedly the motor was making over 280hp with pre-production ECU programs, but it was supposedly dialed back to 270hp for production (marketing reasons?).
Keep in mind that the Audis and VW generally benefit more from chips because of their turbos - the chip programmers simply relax the electronic wastegates and dump more fuel and sometimes timing in. The issue is that the longevity of the turbocharger(s) could be compromised as the added boost generates lots more heat. "
