DVD-A and DTS

Some discs have both on the same disc, but the TL always plays the DVD-A version which must be the default.

Anyone figure out a way to access the DTS version if it is on the same disc?

The DTS track will be from the video_TS directory if you play the DVD on a home DVD player that doesn't know what the DVD-A track is. It's essentially a movie w/o the video.

You cannot access anything but the DVD-Audio content on the disc using the TL player.

Also, the DVD-A track is higher resolution - if you have a player that can play the DVD-A track, you don't need to access the DTS tracks. They are there for backward compatibility with DVD-Video players.

Got my new TL yesterday. Picked up a few DVD-As to spin, and have tried them on my home theater system on the DTS tracks. My home system has about $8000 of speakers/processor/amp in it. I think I like the sound in the TL just as much! (The HT has dipole surrounds - great for movies, less for surround audio).

I was out at lunch with a couple of coworkers -- one said that he thought the TL audio was better than his home system. I am going to be enjoying my drives to/from work!

My car played a disk in DTS mode, and as such, no fancy gold icon.

The disk (I can't remember which artist it was and my wife has the car as I write, I believe it's an older Steely Dan Album) sounded "better" to me than the DVD-A disk, by better I mean I heard better sound seperation, but after a volume of 25 I heard a little hiss, which I don't here with DVD-A disks.

That's a DTS-Encoded CD.
