Dont know what to do. AM or WDP Help!
ok the rundown i currently have a 05 tl with 41k which is AM that is paid of, but my dilema it that im starting to fall in love with the White diamond pearl, and i dont know if i should just get it painted or trade it in and get a WDP. what do you guys think i should do? before i seriously start moding the hell out of my car.
but hear people say that a body shop is probably gonna charge an arm a leg nine fingers and ten toes and maybe an ear to paint the whole car.
so i was thinking what if i just trade it in for a WDP and save some doe, but then i was thinking that i would have to register that vehicle all over again. its all too much. but i really want a WDP.
let me have it guy's what do you think?

on craigslist, you can try posting a car swap add, and maybe a WDP owner will be willing to trade his WDP for your AM. Of course, you would have the risk of the guy you trade with not taking care of his car well, so have the car checked out before being traded

thanx i was just thinking of that but i think is going to be near imposible to trader i find more and more people asking me why did i chose the AM color in the first place, and people including myself liking the WDP better. and acura would probably agree wit me cause they even discontinued the AM color in the newer models.

acura_dipset_tl, i say just keep the AM...it's PAID for already! You don't wanna start all over again with new bills on your shoulder...
save that money for MODS, or other things - there are many AM's that look tight, esp. if they're done right! I think we all get caught up with "i wonder if i would've gotten that color...?" even me, (i wouldn't call it buyers' remorse though, 'cause NBP is what i wanted-and got) but i'm lovin the color of my choice still.
In the end, save your money for MODS or other things...and you and your AM will be golden!

I had an AM and just traded for a Type S WDP. WDP was my first choice 2 1/2 years ago but got the AM b/c my wife really liked it and my last 2 cars were white. I liked the AM but always had that feeling of wishing I had got the WDP. If you are not looking at moving up in years you could probably find one either privately or through a dealer. You may not come out of pocket anything or very little. To me, I would spend a little to be happy with what i have. Look around. Be willing to drive to buy a car. If you stick to a 50 mile radius of your house your chances are a lot less. I have travelled over 400 miles one way to buy a car I wanted. Search autotrader and cars.com. you can put in search criteria and you will get an email on new matches daily so you don't have to visit the site every day.

Get an estamate on how much it would cost to paint. With your car paid off, why go into another payment. Spend that money on the paint and be done with it. Get estimates from several places. PM jdmitr22 and see what he can do for you. Trading is another route. Buying another WDP would be my last choice. Good luck.

A complete, high end color change is a ton of work. The whole car needs to be taken apart as far as panels/ bumpers/ and de-trimmed to do it right, to color all the crevices and jams, ect. It's not going to be cheap. But you would have a finish that's superior to the factory finish. Also the TL's design isn't too bad to do a color change on, still a lot of time consuming work though.
I would at least do a custom color or a more uncommon, rare color if your doing a color change. Personally I would just keep the AM since it's paid for, especially if you take good care of the car.

AM was my first choice when i was in the market for tl. i even had the sales guy set 3 tl next to each other. AM, WDP, and NBP. took me almost 1/2 hour to decide, i finally ended up with WDP and happy with my decision. in your case, try to minimize your new payment if there is one. i know it's a pain in the **s if you trade your car & have another new payment.
i agree with Cecilt, if you really like it then go for it. in the end, you'll be happy & smiling everytime you see your favorite color. just my .02

I would just leave it alone... unless trading for a TL-S. That's the only way I would trade from what you have. At this point, you know how the car was treated, you know the car's history, etc. That gives a lot of piece of mind.

YOU NEED TO REP THE AM there is not to many of us out there modded. Everytime I see something in the black market its always for WDP or NBP BUT NOTHING FOR OUR AM!!!!!.
Plus your car is paid off for.

Full of water...
i like AM, and i really like what a modded AM looks like. i am with many here and say keep what you got, and just mod the crap out of it. the aspec kit and a drop will make your base TL look super hot

I also agree with people who are saying to keep the AM, it's paid off and you know how it was taken care of from day one. If you are going to paint it definitely must do a custom color! Finally if trading in I would trade up for a WDP type-s if going that route...

DON'T paint.
It'll never be quite like factory.
AM *is* a nice color. I've had 3 cars of similar color; driving one now (not a TL, but similar to the AM color). It's one of my favorite car colors.
But, for some reason, the 3G looks *really* good in WDP. (I've also had 5 White cars, 2 of them WDP TL's). The upkeep on them is easier too - don't show swirls, dirt, etc.
I say if you can find a good deal (purchse price - trade) go for it. The financial burden will be moderate - only the diff between the two cars - so if it *is* a good deal it'll be a lot easier than buying new without a trade.

After reading everybody's post i have come to the conclution of keepeing the car AM. after all like most of you said it would be a pain in the ass to paint a different color and not to mention the money i would be spending to paint it. I could instead spend it to mod my TL, and as for trading it in for a type-s i would consider it maybe in the future after i really break my car in, but as for now repin AM
Thanx everybody for posting
