Does the new car warranty cover rattle problems?

Warranty will cover up to a point, and it's usually at the dealer's discretion. In my experience - with other car makes - they'll fix rattles for the first 90 days or two months, or for the first 5,000 miles or whatever, for example. After that, they rightfully tell you they can't be responsible since they don't know what conditions the car's been subjected to.
The point is that rattles per se aren't considered a "defect in workmanship or materials" under the warranty (unless there is a known problem covered by a TSB). The dealers and the factory handle rattles as a customer relations issue, since we all know every car can eventually develop them.

subwoofer/rear deck is covered, as well as the front map pockets on the doors. my car is going in on thursday for these repairs with 6000 miles covered under warranty.

There are many known rattle areas in the TL, and the dealer will usually fix these regardless of time or mileage. And most dealers will try to find others as a good will gesture and also to do the job they are supposed to do, and without charging you for the repair (or attempt, in some cases).

I had rattling/squeaking issues with the sunroof, glovebox, CD compartent, driverside window, and a loose center arm console which is being replaced by dealer. The only thing you are losing here is time without your car while being serviced.
