Does Long Braking Distance for TL make your worried?

People are talking about how fast TL can beat G35 in 0-60.. but from 70-0
G35 is 153 ft vs TL 189 ft (36ft) more

that is a big difference... I think Acura does not put much research on braking in their models..

acura has always had lousy brakes

my 1988 &`1990 legend coupes were prime examples. At least on the6 mt with
brembros, car should stop better, & would if tires were not crappy el 42's

I think its partly due to the tires.

Several family friends have the '03 or '04 Accords and put new tires on them.

It handles MUCH better and brakes better.

I'm wondering if the TL is the same way.

Does G35 have four Brembo? I think so...

I don't know if this is really important to most of ppl. But I do feel my 04TL is better than my 99GS300 & 94Legend.

I think 04TL without Brembo has quite enough braking power, which is better than most of cars in the market.

I'm assuming your getting your 189FT from the Car and Driver report. I find 189F for *ANY* CAR with brembo's rediculious.

Just to throw you a curve, I was watching Motorweek a few weeks ago and they reviewd the TL 6MT as well. Their video showed the TL stopping in 115 feet. They said it stopped "Among some of the best". Howerver they were only able to hit 0-60 in 6.3 seconds. Blaming the "Rubbery" feel when shifing and the massive torque steer. Chew on that for a while...

Rubbery shifting? Torque steer?

They must have confused it with a Maxima!

I have the HPT package and while the 030's are not the best in some respects, the braking is phenomenal. Tires do make a huge difference, especially in a FWD car with 60% of the weight on the front 2 tires. Also I think it has been said before that the Brembos will have little effect on a single panic stop. They are good for control, and resistance to fading. I can attest to this during my mountain trip. The brakes were so good, I almost never thought about them. With the power of this 04, I could get some pretty good speed on straights, that would have to be scrubbed for the next turn. No lock up, no fade, no problem.

In the CR test they turned out 130 ft from 60. This was a shorter distance than the saab, volvo and lexus (by very little, they essentially all stopped within 10 ft of each other). That's a very good performance in anybody's book. That was with turanzas and no brembos. The C/D review is looking more like bull to me every day!!

I was in a dealer a couple of weeks ago, and they had a big cardboard sign up showing the TL braking better than 4 other cars - I think the G35 and BMW 330i were included - but it only showed braking distances at 30 MPH to zero!

I hadn't seen this particular standard ever used before, and it made me wonder if Acura sees worse performance at hiogher speeds?

Can you get Partial A-spec goodies? Like Just Brembo brake and Rim from the dealer?

Brembo brake is not an option yet. It may require new setup for brake system and new spare tire.

Honda doesn't offer the most aggressive brakes from the factory, particularly in the rear, but the new TL has good brakes in normal and Brembo configuration.

The C&D numbers reflect the Turanza EL42 problem, one of the worst A/S tires available today. (See www.tirerack.com for their rating as #34 of 36 available).

As others have said, the figures are much better from Motorweek, and I saw the video with my own eyes.
